Rode some awesome techy singletrack on Saturday. Sunday was bike fixing day followed by beer & pizza whilst watching Breaking Bad and Entourage. Today was a quick ride down the valley trail then back home on the highway. Not doing loads of off road riding til I get my end of season lift pass ๐Ÿ™‚

Built a bike on Saturday.
Rode it on Sunday.
Went for a country-lane pootle via a pub lunch and had ice-cream on Sidmouth seafront today.
Successful long weekend I say ๐Ÿ™‚

Camped near dolgellau saturday night, rode the beast at coed y brenin for the first time on a hardtail, having only been to cannock before (my those rocks were a shock to the system!).

Then climbed snowdon today, got back and had fish and chips.

Brill.

I got out for short rides yesterday (Ashton Court) and today (Mendip). Until my bod stops hurting I can't ride "fast" or knarly, but it's really good to get out.

Big contrast between the two rides: AC is sprinty, pumpy incredibly grippy corners and synthetic (in a good way), and Mendip slog up and bomb down, slidey, rough and in places wildly overgrown.

I rode the FS for the first time in months and its such a different feel from the HT. Nowhere near as responsive in cornering or unweighting, but picks up and keeps downhill speed insanely.

Bikes eh!

Hoped it would be a good time, but I can't begin to express what a dark place I'm in at the moment ๐Ÿ™
Not sure how this week is going to end & if I'm honest I don't look forward to the night!

Good, introduced brother in law to mountain biking, did Cwmcarn inc. the freeride bit riding my Areil no crashes and passed a fair few people as well as going uphill at a fair pace (semi pro footballist) ๐Ÿ˜€

Back up Cwmcarn today with the children for a walk and play area visits and lost my Oakley Jawbones, Arse! can't afford another set for a while either ๐Ÿ‘ฟ

Not bad. Went to the Velodrome on Saturday to meet some friends and have aq quick look at the new BMX track. Rode Sunday and Monday. Drank and ate far too much. Did plenty of chilling, plenty of napping. Ace.

stripped and rebuilt my DH bike on saturday and replaced a DU bush on the mrs Trance. Rode my Mega at Mabie Sunday and Whinlatter today as all my local stuff is really wet. Nothing on my bike snapped. Discovered that jumping 780mm bars through a 790mm gap concentrates the mind. Awesome weekend.

Great weekend. Tested out the newly-acquired and loaded-up Fargo by cycling from Trowbridge to Honeystreet on the Kennet'n'Avon Canal, then up to West Overton to join the Ridgeway, pootled along to Cholsey just in time to make closing time at The Four Teas (awesomely good cakes'n'coffee - pay it a visit!) and to stay over with rob2, beers were had ๐Ÿ˜€

Then back again in reverse on Sunday. Spectacularly lazy day today 8)

Daughter is away so we gave her room the full make over.

So then, bedroom clearing, trips to the dump

visit Ikea

paint room

build furniture

stick shelves up, wire up lights

install new hard drive into an old laptop and install windows etc etc

Hard work, satisfied with the result but hardly turned a pedal. ๐Ÿ™

Mad dash up to the borders. Mabie on Saturday, got caught in biblical rain downpour halfway round, kirroughtree black on Sunday and then Drumlanrig yesterday. The new bike got a decent work out and I'm now just about sorted I think.

It was great! Wife and son are at her dads down south, so went up to my mums in Northumberland. Rode into scotland on the road bike, fairly gentle ride, 75 miles, no real climbing, but stunning day, quiet roads and amazing views. then back to Mums for sunday dinner, watched the vuelta time trial, had a snooze, got home about seven and watched eight hours that I'd recorded from the night before. Very enjoyable!

Friday-paddled Canadian canoe down the Thames and camped on a tiny island overnight. Beers and bbq.
Saturday-paddled home again.
Sunday-a mate and i DJ'd at the Gorrick 12 hour race under a bridge in the woods which was fun.

No riding for weeks with dodgy achilles though. Did i miss summer?

Mine was boring.

Mates were all riding and racing, and i'm still injured. Ended up going for an epic drive around snowdonia and using up over half a tank of fuel over 200 miles around the mountains yesterday :D.

The road from Bala to Festiniog is EPIC. Slow, but twisty and up and down, with epic scenery.

Picked up new car 2ltr tdi touran, much more pleasant drive to inlaws in Wales than usual. The counter balance to this nice thing for the weekend was having my chain snap and headset play up less than 2k into a 50k loop I had planned in the Black Mountains.. grrrr

No bank holiday here. Worked four 12-hour shifts between friday and yesterday. That's 18 shifts in the last 21 days. Arms and legs are completely free of scabs, that's not a good sign (means I ain't been riding). ๐Ÿ™

Why thanks for asking,
Fri eve full xc race mode on my local trails, Sat lead to a bit of maintenance then (change of tyres and middle ring) Sun was a huge walk with the OH from Yarmouth/Freshwater/Yarmouth over Tennison Down, which comes highly recommended days walking. Mon ended up bikeand car cleaning day then huge super and sparkles, still off today and a long walk planned in the South Downs, then a pint or two at the Flower Pots.

Got up at 4.00am Friday, drove 8hours from Glasgow back home,
Saturday drove 2hrs to bike science for a preliminary bike fit (highly recommended) found out I only really fit 2 tt bikes and neither is a Cervelo - unfortunate. Sunday, 3rd triathlon in 3 weeks and 5th race in same time period. Won age category but only 4th overall, not happy, free t-shirt was a bonus though. Watched Belgian GP then tried to source aforementioned tt bike no success. Monday had breakfast, speed session running, 2nd breakfast, gym session, Lunch, re organised shed n+1 rule leading to little space for new bike arrivals, 2nd Lunch, recovery ride, dinner then bed.

Quite a fun weekend all in all.

Iain

Spent Saturday fitting new flooring to the hallway, including cutting teh damn stuff to fit snuggly round the base of the stairs & newel post as the missus doesn't like beading on wooden flooring, then erm cut the laws - they were like a jnugle after 2 weeks of warm & wet weather.

Rode on Sunday, did Llandegla. My mate couldn't ride his Five as he ****ed the brakes "fixing" them, so he took his single speed - he then proceeded to snap the chain halfway down the new black, so carried/scooted it the rest of the way round amidst taunts from us all day ๐Ÿ˜€

Monday was a trip to B&Q to get the rest of the stuff to finish the hall & stairs, new doors, skirting, architrave, beading, lights, socket facias etc - so guess what I'm doing next weekend.

On the plus side got a letter from the inland revenue saying i'm getting a Tax rebate, think I might just go and get an Whippet with SID's

Great weekend in Hawes, biking saturday and monday. Walk with waterfalls and caves on Sunday. Plenty of ale. It did sound like the river was going to flood our tent on saturday night though.
