think of it like this 260miles in 24hours isn't actually that fast an average speed. so don't scare yourself on that score.

Other than that just ride, get used to being in the saddle for long periods

and make sure you don't make any radical changes to your setup, if you need to tweak do it gently.

yep, make sure you get all the little niggles ironed out early, dont be breaking in a new saddle/shoes/grips etc on the day, as said above, the hard bit will be sitting in the saddle for that amount of time, concentrate on that.

Hey Rob - good luck with that! I've got some Torq bars left over from Mountain Mayhem when I did it solo this year. I'll do them for a good price ๐Ÿ˜‰ (seriously)

Ridden 150ish miles in daylight hours, on african roads, in african heat with full panniers, so anything's possible.

I found that doing handstands in an ice bath worked for me.
224.4 miles in 13 hours 40 minutes but you know that anyway.
Is this the ride we're doing next year?
Our team of four doing LeJog in 4 days is a man short. That'd be good training

It's two 130 mile rides.

Ride em at 15 mph, or a bit slower...

My training for a 190 mile ride consisted of gradually building up the distances up to 160 started at 60 and added 20 every week. 1 big ride on a sunday then a few smaller recovery rides inbetween. Couple of weeks rest with short fun rides just to keep things turning over before that big one.
A good diet the whole time aswell.

We managed the 190 in a bonkers 11hrs

A family crisis means no riding for me for a week or two. Soon though.

You'll be fine, just keep riding your bike. Probably a good idea to get some longer rides in, but if your reasonably fir it won't be too much of a problem for you. I know several folk who did that sort if distance in the same time frame and they didn't do any more regular training than a few 2 hour rides a week.

No monksie, I'm out.

It's too many miles a day for me; I like cycling, but I don't like it that much...

Right so 80 miles is now comfortable!! Need to keep ticking over and improving through the winter.

Main issue now is the planning aspect not knowing what route to take from edinburgh ๐Ÿ™ Would it make sense to go longer route round the coast as its flatter??

I'd doubt it, but I'd see if I could map out various route choices with elevation also.

Rob - in my profile, or catch me through mleh.
My LeJog went from Oldham to Peebles via Hebden Bridge so I have a GPX file of that if it's of any use.

I did 250 in a day this year and it was genuinely one the most enjoyable days I've ever had on a bike. I set off at around 3:30 in the morning and it was quite nice knowing that all you're going to do that day is ride your bike.

Start off super easy - I was in the inner ring for the first hour or so. This stops you getting too keen when your legs are feeling fresh. I'd also recommend that you try not to stop too much - just ride easy and take some food on. I did the first 100 without stopping which really helped from a psychological point of view.
