Im sure my chain is clattering more than when I first fitted the mech (XT, about a year old now).
Without dismantling the mech/clutch thing is there a quick way to find out if it's still working? I'm still unsure how it works/what it does so haven't got the foggiest what I'm looking for 😳

Try moving the cage of the mech forwards (ie towards the chainset) with the switch turned on and then off. You should feel a lot more resistance with it turned on.
