how to tell artex and textured paint apart?

its on a wall .. don't think I'm dealing with woodchip wallpaper but it looks similar... whole thing comes off with a scraper quite easily.. I'd of thought artex would take quite a bit of welly to get off?

Opposite is true. Artex is fairly soft whereas textured paints a bitch to remove

thought the fibres might help hold it together in the case of artex...

I've scraped it.. wearing a p3 mask.. but was somewhat disturbed by how easily it came off.. hopefully ive not caked the place in asbestos

came off in one layer dry, exposing the wall behind which was not particularly damaged

the back [of the stuff that came off] was pink, looked like plaster

ta, I'll try get a pic

If you reckon its asbestos, guess that qualifies as a FML moment ๐Ÿ˜†

Though was probably 4-5 hours doing it... and last I checked I don't work in a factory with asbestos everyday

That's some kind of old style textured paint.Defo not artex it's to sharp.
If it was artex you would see a more even stipple finish.Iv'e renovated loads and loads of houses and artexed a lot of ceilings.
