I have an old bike here with an xt mech - no clutch - says dynasys on it. The cage has seized so I'm trying to remove it, clean and lube. I have removed the cage screw meaning I can rotate the cage to whatever angle, but how do I remove the cage? With a clutch mech I'd be unscrewing bolts on the outer face at this point, but there aren't any bolts like that?

There's usually a grub screw you need to undo. I'm guessing you have an RD-M781 which is 10 speed XT without clutch. If you google RD-M781 EV you will get the exploded view which should show you the screw you need to undo.

Found it! there was indeed a screw. So rounded off I thought it was just a hole - but it turned 🙂
