[#1671090]

Just bought some brand new deep sectioned road wheels and folding tyres. Really struggling to get the tyres on though. They tyres and wheels are definitely a compatible size (622-23C)

Any tips much appreciated, tried the Chipps method but to no avail. Any other ideas?

Best not to use them on lightweight road rims as you may bend the rim putting tight tyres on

Have you got the right size rim tape fitted? If it's the wrong size i.e too big it'll hamper fitting tyres new or not.

I use them to stick tyres on my road rims. Just not got to be a cack handed buffoon with them though.

I have this problem with my road bike too, but I was always taught that using levers to put tyres on was just about the naughtiest thing you could do?!

I'm too scared of those tyre levers so might try warming the tyre instead

I doubt that's a good idea for rim-braked wheels...

... well you have to wash it off again.

Fairy liquid also does the job. Beads will stretch out eventually.

One massive revelation in all of that. Starting opposite side of valve allowed me to get tyre on..still with difficulty though.

I was about to mention. I hope you are ending up by the valve as the last section otherwise you are making life even harder for yourself.
I have a set of Kenda 29er tryes that I simply cannot get on my Stans Arch rims. Nowhere near.
