Just curious, but my disc rotors seem to rub a fair amount. I noticed that I had a bend in the them and so went and bought two new rotors. I've noticed that they have started to rub again too (after 3 months) and the wheels on either side will only spin 3-4 revolutions before stopping - so I'm thinking of investing in a Truing fork.

Is this normal procedure? I change my tires a fair amount (twice a week) but always make sure the wheels is seated properly before tightening the QRs, so I can't see what's knocking them off.

Cheers,

Might be the way you're lying the wheels down when changing the tYres? I think I've slightly bent one rotor in the last 5 years of riding.

Are the rotors bent or has it just gone out of alignment? Is it just a matter of losening the caliper bolts and adjusting?

Is there a lot of flex in the frame and different tension in the qr is causing slightly different disk alignment?

I cannnot say I've really bent many rotors. I had a set of formulas which were lightweight and I really trashed a rotor hitting a rock, but generally it's not something that's caused many problems.

discs are rubbish (too thin IMO)

never ever had one stay perfectly straight. rears are worst and I hardly even use my front brake so kinda proves normal use warps them.

I have tried the calliper alignment a few times and its definitely rubbing with a wobble - as opposed to rubbing continuously on one side.

I haven't taken this set of rotors off yet, going to do that when I get home from work, but there was a noticeable kink/warp in them the last time.

In terms of lying the wheels down, I lye them flat between two washing machines (random!) so the disc is floating in the air and not touching anything...

must be ****ing hellish carrying two washing machines around incase you get a puncture on ride. great resistance/strength training tho 😉

I have to do the bendy every once in a while with my rotors. I tend to just press hard with my thumbs. By truing fork do you mean
[img] [/img]?

I change my tires a fair amount (twice a week)
Hells bells! I got so fed up with swapping DH to XC tyres a couple o' times a month, so I built a second set of wheels...

How often?

Since I got shot of my Mini Monos 4 years ago, never. Magura rotors are worth every penny of the £35 they cost because they're indestructible. 🙂
