Hey all, my mate is looking at his first full suss and has decided on 100mm travel for mainly XC riding, though we do downhill at FOD and he has been riding HT for 12 years so is pretty good...what suggestions do you have that come in under the magic £1000 mark...

his current best option is the cube xms but i notice thats now gone over the £1000 mark

Personally I think for that sort of money, restricting yourself to 100mm isn't a good idea.

The Boardman FS Team always wins the tests under 1k, and people rave about them. Better spec than the Cube too.

Will be a bit more suitable for FOD DH than 100mm.

I totally agree, I ride a pitch and my other mates after a heckler so 100mm does seem limiting (i know DH bikes used to run 100mm etc blah before anyone says it!)

I have suggested the boardman...and aside from his snobbery of 'eurgh halfords' i think its a very good choice

keep them coming...

What bike does he have now, or more importantly what parts?

A Heckler frame is pretty much 1k, not sure if you can get just a frame on cycle to work though 😆

Trance is a good choice I must admit, crap spec though.

oooh i know this one...i think its an old dmr frame (bmx style) that weighs a freakin ton with 100mm forks (unserviced) and a 1x9 set up...honestly the bikes had a hard life and is at least 8 years old

that giant trance looks bloody awesome...
