[#6672748]

I've done 121 rides this year covering 1828 miles

Now i know that will be nothing compared to some of you guys, but I'm just wondering how often you lot manage to get out for a ride, not including commuting?

A rough guesstimate for my year is 3 times a week, 2 will be after / before work between 10-12 miles and a longer ride at weekends.

I sometimes feel I'm not doing enough like Today I've not felt brilliant so didn't bother going out but the main reason I ride is to keep healthy both physically and mentally. A while ago I was drinking straight after getting in from work now I don't drink alcohol at all and just get out on the Bike if it's been a bad Day.

not including commuting

Why not? Some of my best rides have been on my commute this year.

I'm just trying to get an idea of how to juggle work to find time to ride the bike for " just a ride " no particular destination

I tend to ride my bike everyday, sometimes more than once a day. Not sure on the annual mileage, I would guess at around 10000 miles ish.

7,987 according to Strava, 700 of which are commuting miles.

Quite a bit excluding my commute. I think what helps is having one group of mates into MTB and another lot that are roadies, there's always something going on.

Mileage I guess? 5000 per year. Average months about 500 miles. Some Audax months well over 1200 miles, and during cross season it really drops to about 350 miles.
I don't garmin my races or rides that I'm not leading, and I don't count my commute into any figures.

Twice a week usually for exclusively non-commutes. A lot of my rides though are commutes which are either extended or altered to fit a purpose so probably about 5 times a week if you discount the direct commutes via the shortest/easiest routes. If you include the commutes then it's about 10-12 times a week.

MTB I've done 74 rides this year and 742 miles, which on average are really short rides! I've commuted roughly 2000 miles this year too.

I just ride when I fancy it. I don't put any pressure on myself to ride every day, commute or do a certain number of miles a year. I try to ride twice a week but some weeks I do other things I enjoy. When I do ride, I go out until I've had enough then I go home.

Riding bikes are fun, but so are lots of other things!

Oh my ๐Ÿ™

...but then I have had several points in the year when I haven't actually had any wheels.

...plus injuries.

...plus the dog ate my homework.

84 rides, 1685 miles.
Try to get at least two rides a week, had a CX bike since July and I've been using this more lately for lanes/flatish forest tracks etc.

Run my own business, married with 2 kids and I manage to get 2/3 mtb rides a week. Two 1hr ones during the week (night or day) and a big one at the weekend.

Average of twice a week. 3500 miles so far this year, mostly road. I'm a fair weather rider unless riding in a group.
I keep thinking about doing a fake commute (I work from home) to get more rides in for fitness reasons.

I'm doing well, early Spring saw me change my Roadie and then in April I bought my CX'er (but then I had a couple of months waiting for SRAM to sort the brakes out) and then it really started to ramp up. From knocking out 500miles a month to recently 8-950miles.. I've not hit 1000pmth yet but wouldn't be surprised if November isn't close to it.
I'm about equal on both bikes, and averaging out about 2-3hours per day.

I'm lucky in that I'm working from home quite a lot ATM whilst the quiet seasons in (in my world anyhoos)

December's hitting tomorrow and I expect I'll at the very least triple Raphas 500... I have some long distance CX'er routes planned and two double day stints on the Roadie set out.

My hips are aching and my calves are a bit sore but hey, gotta rideout whilst you can haven't you 8)

Only normally once a week, more in the summer if I can squeeze one in before work and the weather is decent.

59 rides so far this year, 750ish miles. Mostly off road this year, just bought another roadie though so I reckon this distance will go up a bit next year.

Oh... So folk are getting their excuses in first now are they?

Run my own business, single parent of 3. Ride most days/nights all year round no matter what the weather. I'd lose the plot if I didn't TBH

On average I'm out ridin about 20-30 hours a week.

350+ rides this year so far. 5500+miles
About a 50/50 split between road and mtb with a hundred or so BMX miles (if folk count them)
I'll often ride mtb like BMX as well (ie. Ride for hours sessioning stuff without really going anywhere)

I go MTB as often as I can which is obviously less often than I would like! So can usually fit in 2 or 3 MTB rides a week. More during holidays at home. Some periods of the year I commute by bike, usually winter. And when I feel like it will ride my road bike. Also some rides with my youngest. Totals c4000 miles a year.

Year to date:

180 rides, 6,135 km (3,812 miles), 136,594 m (448,143 feet) climbing.

All mountain bike, no commuting. Something to aim to beat next year ๐Ÿ™‚

Up to the time when it was dark at 4.45, almost every day. Now 50 miles each Sat and Sun plus 22.5 about once a week. All recreational. This year is going badly, I reckon it will be around 6200 miles plus. Usually about 6500. Too much work.

My numbers are similar to,yours OP - 2 rides a week on average with an average of 60 miles a week. 90% road, 10% mtb. Not training for anything or commuting - just keeping healthy and some Sportives. Feel this much riding is a good compromise between 'enough' to maintain my fitness and move forward a bit and not taking time away from home/family life.

68 activities doing 742 miles in total.

Riding at least twice a week, mainly evening rides but the occasional longer weekend ride.
At the moment I am down to once a week, struggling since it went dark and wet!

Two or three times a week, usually 10-12 miles a time but sometimes longer. I miss it if I don't get a chance to have a ride out.

Not enough, a lot less than everyone here it seems

Just to add some balance, zero here, and a lovely bike just collects dust.

I miss it, but enjoy convenience/cheapness of swimming & walking more with my world as it is presently.

1647 miles
192 Rides
181 hours

My figures are a bit weird as I have done a lot more downhill and a few uplifts. I always reord each run as a seperate ride if I am getting an uplift.

I've ridden my mtb once a week this year.. Rarely more and sometimes less..
I've put in a fair few regular hilly miles with a fully laden trailer on the school run though and many more to the beach, park and supermarket

Once a week without fail year-around. During BST I get out for a few hours after work once a week too, GMT means the local leisure centre gym - hate it, but it stops the worst of the winter rust. I've tried night riding with some borrowed lights but I haven't the cash for my own set just now.

I'd love to ride more but it's always a balancing act between work, my Wife and Kids and the riding. I gave up trips to the pub with my mates years ago to 'buy' more time for riding.

Ironically I'll give all my time to my family gladly but they're also the main reason I could never give up the MTB - I'm a better Dad when I've destressed riding and with luck it'll keep me fit into my 40's and well beyond.

Twice a week summer, once a week winter if weather half decent. Run 4-5 days a week. More if bike stays in shed.

Strava says:

Year-to-Date
Distance 2,527.1 mi
Time 166h 25m
Elev Gain 58,383 ft
Rides 139

And I have no reason to disbelieve it.

I don't differentiate between rides and commuting TBH.

Looking at the profile it seems April, June and September were all pretty much wasted, I will be aiming for a stronger finish to December so I can take it over 3000 miles, and I quite fancy trying out an audax or two in the new year goal for next year it to ride more than this year I'll keep it as simple as that.
