I'd try and sell that on the classifieds in here, 400 is a decent price, and you won't have ebay fees.

I would say yes it is, if you want this type of bike. However, it is not a typical road bike - steel, cantis, 9 speed, geometry etc.
It would make a great commuter or light tourer, but if you want a bike to try road riding and maybe a sportive, I think you would be better off looking at a second hand road bike from one of the big manufacturers like Trek, Sepcialized or Cannondale.

Depends what you're after.

Some day's I like my race bike, it's like taking a Lotus Elise out for a spin on a sunny Sunday morning.

Other day's it's like driving a Lotus Elise over a potholed mess of a road though the Peak district, when what you really want is a nice comfy estate car (aka a surly cross check).

It's for a commute so that sounds good.

Excuse the ignorance, zero bids closes in 2 hours - £400 is the reserve ? Why not bid £250 or £300 ? Or is this not possible ?

I've got one, that looks pretty decent value to me. It'll make a great commuter, you can fit mudguards along with decent sized tyres for comfort, singlespeed it, gear it, Alfine it no problem. I've done sportives on mine but it's a bit of a lump for that sort on nonsense tbh.

Without guards you can get at least 45mm tyres in there. you could pretend it's one of those "gravel bikes" until that that fad dies away.

If I didn't have my Kaff and that was bigger I would pay it.

Cheers, Steve
