Maybe Rosa Parks should have just stood up and let a white person have her seat then.

Most pointless comparison so far.

Congratulations.

Edging things nicely into Godwin's Law territory....

I doubt orange would allow the same calendars to be put up in the entrance for all to see.

Really why not it is either ok or not ok

so much so I don't know how you go about day to day life spending your whole days getting offended / upset. There's a lot of bad shoite going on in the world, how do you cope?

Easily I just keep trying to drag you into the current century

To speak out hardly means we are crushed and incapable of coping.I
If you would not put a calender in your office reception or your own front room then you know why we object.
if you would put them there then you are somewhat out of touch with current moods.

How many of the people objecting are female?

Not many, by the look of it...

Is it really your view that only sesitive hand wringing men object to this ...REALLY

The middle aged secretary that sits behind me at work has some hunky looking dude with his top off as her PC wallpaper...so what, good for her. i don't see any of the blokes in the office taking a strop / having a flounce...

Maybe due to the fact that there isn't a massive history (and remaining reality) of sexism against men in the workplace - e.g. women still get paid less for doing the same jobs.

i take it you don't actually have an explanation for your comment, then? Ok. Thought not.

so it's not actually a 'pointless comparison' at all then. glad we've got that cleared up.

To be honest, the comments on here are much more interesting than the original piece, although I agree that it is mostly arguments that have been done to death.

Some people seem to be seriously questioning whether others have the right to care. If you don't care, that's fine. Most people would agree with you. But then, most people seem happy to walk through life rarely engaging their brain; pretending that nothing they do has any consequences. In fact, where and how you choose to spend your money is probably the most important political act you can make. The country we live in today was shaped more by the decisions we made about what to buy than any cross we may have made in a ballot box.

Anyway, Hitler would have made them take those posters down.

Right, we're done ๐Ÿ™‚

Men like to look at knorks,
Women like to look at moobs.
Big deal, get over it.
Is this seriously the biggest problem in the world at the moment?

The only solution is to ban it all.

All of it.

No pics of semi-naked women or men.

Ever again.

Anywhere.

I don't know, as I haven't been able to go along for the last couple of rides. I imagine it's going fine though, as it has done for the last couple of decades or so.

If it was meant as a **** you to woolly liberal Guardian readers then fair enough. But woolly liberal Guardian readers make up a lot of their market.

Woolly liberal Guardian readers are responsible for lots of the world's ills IMO.

I see no problem whatsoever that a factory full of men doing a manly job like welding and making stuff out of metal should have pictures of women. Personally I'd like to see a return to some good old fashioned values where men knew about being men, not moisturiser and man bags.....

...then went to the pub, downed 15 pints, staggered gome, beat the wife and swore at the darkies on TV too eh?

Those were the days...

if you disagree with his point then rebut his point, not your extrapolation of what you'd like his point to have been.

Its par for the course round here. I reckon most on here are secretly spin-doctors working for the gov practising their dark art here during their lunch-break.

Its laughable.

You "take it" incorrectly then.

so it's not actually a 'pointless comparison' at all then. glad we've got that cleared up.

It most certainly is.

All we have "cleared up" is that you seem to think a few harmless pictures of Women in the workshop, and probably a few Harmless pictures of firemen/pop stars/actors in the office (or any combination of those) causes the same Harm as Racial Segregation ๐Ÿ™„

I'd interpreted andyrm's post as being somewhat toungue-in-cheek, and responded in a similar vein.

i'm sorry if you took it that seriously.

The workshop is a grot free zone, find it all a bit sad, grubby and 80's.

There are still a number of MTB race series that have 'brolly dollies' wandering around in lycra handing out energy drinks ๐Ÿ˜ which seems to be a cross over from the MX seen.

I, for one, think it's great that people can reform. For example, that they can learn to type and spell properly, without the need to resort to some silly faux-Cockney spelling. It's progress, I tell you. Progress.

It most certainly is.

If you believe so, then please feel free to post an explanation then, rahther than just spouting 'you're wrong' at something oyu disagree with.

All we have "cleared up" is that you seem to think a few harmless pictures of Women in the workshop, and probably a few Harmless pictures of firemen/pop stars/actors in the office (or any combination of those) causes the same Harm as Racial Segregation

What you seem to have failed to notice, is that I wasn't actually commenting on the issue of girlie posters in the workplace, but about certain individuals bemoaing the fact that others might want to speak out against something they disagree with. and then using certain language to denigrate those whose views differ to their own. I used rosa Parks as an example of someone who stood up (ok, sat down!) for something she believed in. A quality I greatly admire in others, even if I don't agree with their sentiments.

We live in the society we do today, with greatly reduced sexism, homophobia and racism, because some people feel it's necessary to speak out against such attitudes and behaviour.

Obviously some on here don't think that's important. I'm glad their views don't take precedence in our society over others.

I wouldn't go that far. More about the fact there was a time when we didn't apologise for everything we might have said/thought/imagined.

Ah, those will be the times when anyone who did object either had a 'chip on their shoulder' or were worrying their 'pretty little heads' unnecessarily.

Halcyon days, for sure...

Not me mate I was hand wringing apparently

Men like to look at knorks,
Women like to look at moobs.
Big deal, get over it.
Is this seriously the biggest problem in the world at the moment?

Has anyone said it is the most serious problem in the world?
Some folklike to fight so if they jsut start on you accept it and get over it - again it woudl still not be the biggest problem in the worls

Ps i think you meant to add some before the gender bit.

Ban the mini skirt, boob tube, leggings, low cut tops, shorts, vests, skinny jeans, in fact, owt that shows off a bit of skin, lets just all wander round covered head to toe in cloth shall we, preferably black so the gawdy colours don't upset our eyes

Yes we must either sexuall;y objectify women or do as you suggest for their is no middle goroung between these extremes - good spot.

Woolly liberal Guardian readers are responsible for lots of the world's ills IMO

You are right back in the past when we were insesitive it was trully wonderful , then along came people who cared and then suddenly we had wars, disease and pestilence.

Its hyperbole central on here today

Rowan Atkinson said it best in his defence of comedy to the House of Commons. True as well. Perspective..
