Just wondering and if anyone has a ridiculous amount, though I can see at least 11 being 'justifiable'. Maybe: XC lid, a more bulky XC half face, a DJ/MX/skate helmet, a road helmet, a full face helmet, a helmet to commute and a helmet each to race XC, CX, road, DH, BMX ..
I use one for all my bike riding at the moment (an MTB half face). I used to have another to commute but its a bit small and I no longer commute
XC 2 off as in the summer I ride morning and evening and the morning one never dries in time.
Road Bike 1 off
Dirt Jumping 1 off
1-my E2
xc mtb helmet.
Road helmet because with a 58 head and a bulbous mtb lid my head looked even bigger/ more ridiculous.
BMX that I bought especially for Laggan as I kept cracking my mtb lids.
2 Xen and a carbon Deviant
Tracey
Giro Xen for XC riding
Giro Semi for night riding
TLD D2 for DH and BMX track.
Peltor ProRally for trackdays
KMC Motorbike helmet for trackdays in open top cars
I have 3-
A Specialized Instinct that I don't really where because I look like a dick in it
A 661 Evo full facer that I wear downhilling.
A Giro E2 that I wear everywhere because it looks best and is better vented and more comfortable.
3
Xen for everyday.
Hex for every other day.
661 EVO for Commencal days.
3
Giro Hex for XC
Met Parachute for scary all day alpine stuff
661 Evo for (what I laughingly describe as)"Freeride" (ie. stuff that puts the willy's up me)
not literally
E2 on road and trail. As mentioned above, best mountain bike helmet made. Peak remains on when on the road bikes, of course.
Pisspot for BMX and kites
just 1 my hex it serves every purpose sufficiently well.
Bell Sweep XC, for XC night and day, Road and Commute (take the peak off for road)
And a Troy lee D2 full face for DH, although i've had it since 2003 so need to replace..
Did have a Giro Skyline spare lid but that was adopted by an ex and I never asked for it back...
Just 2- my Hex, which I wear basically all the time, and my Bell Faction which is really just for when it's properly cold, as it's like brain insulation.
2 full face
2 XC
1 pisspot
rarely wear any of them
I have one, a hex. Don't wear one for commuting (3 miles each way on bike paths on a cargo bike = no need).
Just 2 . . .
Pi$$pot for x/c and commuting
Full face for d/h
11 is justifiable!?!? Good grief - that would be one expensive habit before you're even spent a penny on an actual bike...
I've currently got two: giro mtb, not sure of the model - maybe a Xen & giro ionos. The latter is especially fantastic - really cool with loads of air flow compared to the mtb lid. I don't think I've ridden without a helmet on in the last 5 years or so...
5
2 pisspots
1 bunch of bananas style
2 full facers
Xen for road and trail
Pro-Tec piss pot for when the weather is bad and dicking around
Bell Drop full face for DH and Bike park stuff.
1 x tsg piss pot
1x sworks 2d
2x giro atmos
1x bell volt
1x fox full face
1x giro phenmo
1 vented XC
! pisspot
1 flat cap
As the occasion demands
Just have the one does it all. Although I am looking for a new one.
Bell Sweep for road/cx
Giro E2 for mountainbike (could do with replacing)
Bell fullface-never been worn, was a pressie
Giro Pneumo- smashed and blood stained, kept to remind me to wear a helmet!
3 motorcycle helmets
1 MTX helmet
1 DH helmet
1 pisspot
3 XC/AM helmets
Not all at the same time, mind you.
Xen for general MTBing
Pneumo for road and commuting
Remedy carbon for balls out scary stuff.
3.
Specialized - Propero for road
Met Veleno for off road
Boardman XC for off road (brand new, unused and for sale for not much money)
4:
Bell variant XC lid in silver/pink camo
Bell delerium XC lid (my old one) with the peak taken off for road and commuting
Fox rampage full face for downhilling and BMX tracks
TSG pisspot one for skateparks and trails.
Bell Volt - the current good helmet.
Giro E2 (semi retired)
Giro Havoc (semi retired)
661 piss pot for riding to the shops.
I have 6:
1x Giro Atmos road lid replaced my ageing S1 a few years back, worn very occasionally.
2x Spesh Decibel (one black, one black/red): took over from Atmos as main helmets, both on team deals, don't really wear either now except in terrible weather
3x S-Works 2D (one black, one red, one white), black one for crap conditions, red one for MTBing, white one for road/REALLY dry off-road use.
Makes perfect sense really!
4:
1x Giro E2
2x Giro Atmos
1x Giro Advantage
1 and don't know why I bought it as I never wear it - can't stand wearing a helmet (as many STW'rs will validate)
road: some giro road one - very holey cos I'm a sweaty bugger
general mtb: giro hex on it's way - cos it's quite holey and I'm a sweaty bugger
(replacing a giro semi - cos it's delaminating and too hot)
nights: very old giro something - cos it's got a torch strapped to it (even though haven't a battery right now)
alps (or if I ever did UK DH): giro mad max - cos I'm not fast but I am scaredy
Four:
Specialized something (in some team or other's colours) for the road
E2 for XC
Xen for XC+
Giro mad max for DH
but I wear a helmet less and less frequently these days.
4 for me.
Giro xen for xc
Specialized s1 (or whatever it's called nowadays) for road and commuting
2 x troy lee d2 for dh (1 race weekends,1 home use).
Giro E2 that I use for everything, off-road, road, commuting, tri. Although I was recently thinking about getting a shiny new road specific lid. Any recommendations around and up to the £70 mark? Ta
Just one, but I could see the point in having a few more, for road and mountain, a full face maybe, a bmx thing maybe, and maybe one for night riding, as the joystick bracket gets a bit annoying.
Giro Animas for XC
Giro Xen for Trail/AM
Casco Viper for anything really steep
1x Giro Hex for commuting and other stuff
Fox Flux for everything; some other MET thing in case I split that one.
Need something new as the Flux is getting knocked about; can't get Xen here; didn't pass the Aussie Standard, which is very odd...
only recently got a bike helmet, after 15 years of not having one(was a giro hammerhead).i now have a bell variant gold/black.
An ageing Bell X-Ray for XC, that will soon be replaced
A Casco Viper for days when the up involves lots of cycling and the down warrants a full face
A Gyro full face jobbie for downhill days
Flippin' 'eck! How many heads have you got? Some of you need help. 😛
2 at the mo
Giro Athlon for everything and an old Havoc for night rides. It has the light permanantly mounted, so I can grab n go with minimal faffing.
I'm amazed at the number of people with pisspots! I've never considered one, but can see they might be toastier for winter commutes. What about the lack of peak in rain n snow - is that an issue?
I have 5:
1-Cheapo MET XC thingy (Probably gets used the most at the minute)
2-Peakless Giro (Transfer?) for use on the Road bike or as an XC backup
3-Mace pisspot for arsing about...
4-661 strike full facer for DH.
5-Scuffed old animal MX lid as backup for item 4
I don't tend to spend alot on lids, just seem to have accrued a few I think I had 7 at one point, but 5 is sensible...
Yes I did also have an S1, and a cheapy Giro Flume that I used for about 2 weeks whilst I waited for my Atmos! Also got an old Exodus kicking about, so technically that's 7 helmets but I've not worn that in about 5 years!
I've worn all 6 of mine in the last 6 months, and wear 3 of them most weeks!
