got a set at home ive not used as i got them for my anthem i no longer have. but im building up a 456 and doing ghetto tubeless so i can either run them on that or sell and buy some maxxis advantage which i have on the other bike and like. or are they a decent tyre they are the newest evo ust version if that makes a difference
cheers
I'm a fan. I don't see much point in Nobby Nics anymore, if it's muddy I use a Mud-X, if it's not, Ralphs are great.
Used them at Afan in the pissing rain 2 weekends ago, and they were fine!
im gonna get some rocket ron's, according to several Schwalbe sponsored riders i know, the best all round tire you can get.
As per Njee, I don't bother with NNs any more. RR are faster, lighter, same grips levels and don't squirm like NNs do. 2.25s all the way here.
Rons are the same carcass as the Furious Fred, which is much much thinner. Means it's a very light tyre, but more prone to punctures. Depends if that bothers you!
I'll get a set when I get around to it!
And there's nothing like talking to a sponsored athlete for a completely objective opinion ๐
mmm i may keep em then they just look very low on tread compared to the advantage ones
i mean in terms of whats better a RRalph or RRon, i know they are going to be biased towards schwalbe, just honest about which one......
Aah, yes! They have got more tread than a Ralph certainly. Just not perfect if you live somewhere rocky.
pretty damn good.
i still use nics as my mud/winter tyre. but ralphs are fine otherwise,
pic up a set of rocket rons next weekend, so i'll let you know then.
i've got some ust and regular ralphs, i like them a lot but there are issues which in my eyes prevent it being a good all round tire.
the wear rate is terrible is you hit much tarmac, i often bike to my local trails to get the miles in, i've resorted to turning the tire round to get a bit more rear traction back.
fairly puncture prone, but running tubeless is ok, just leave the thorns in, stay away from stoney terrain though, like pathetic new forest cycle paths... cuts them to pieces, they also have thin sidewalls
ust are more robust all round but heavier, better for trails, worse for racing.
Ralphs are good for soily trails, hardpack and smooth stuff but not quite so great in big rocks. Would be good in the Dales and around Leeds, less so in the Dark Peak.
Er... Just hammered a pair over two lakeland rides with big rocks and all that. Stop blaming the tyres..... ๐
RR are complete pap for your aggressive xc riding, feel free to post to me where I will dispose of .I will take the hit on postage

Maybe they've changed since I last used them, which was probably a couple of years ago. The knobs came off and the sidewalls wore out really quickly.
lol rich. i guess i'll keep them to try out as i already have them . my brain says stick the rr on the full sus and the advantage on the ht but i cant be arsed with the faff as the dt rims on the sus took ages to stop tubeless leaking ;-( thanks all
They're ok for a rear tyre but ****in' scary on the front on wet rocks.....
Fast Track front & comp s light rear is a far better tyre combo imho.Esp the comps, they are lighter, roll faster, never had a puncture with one yet & grip just as well too,oh & not forgetting far harder wearing too..........
I'd disagree with that on both counts, I think the Fast Trak is a terrible tyre, and the Comp S Light's just as bad!
Shows how personal tyres are!
GF: yes they changed in 2008, the old one was very unpredictable and prone to letting go in the corners, the new one is exactly the same side lugs as a Nobby Nic, just slightly lower profile in the middle.
emac65 - I thought RRs were OK as a front tyre?
i like em; pretty quick nice grip through corners from upright all they way over.
2.4's are the way of th future - big volume, low rolling resistance, high grip.

Like njee20 said we all have different opinions on tyres.I found them terrible at CYB on wet rock last winter.....
I used a NN front and a Racing Ralph at the back Fantastic Quantocks coombe raiding combo
Well chuffed
