[#7089445]

Mine is a grand total of 4

A rigid s/h gate of a Scott - had a couple of years

A '97 Kona Lava Dome (still got)

A 2005 Spesh Enduro (kept for 4 years)

A 2008 S-Works Enduro (still got)

Must admit I fancy a change, even though the Enduro meets all my needs - got a bit of lust for the top of the range Capra

Old peugeot mtb with suspension forks! (they did not really ever work but the bike took a long time to die. Bought in about 1990)
Some kinda very cheap awful mtb (circa 2000. Was stolen, the joke is on the thief lol)
Voodoo hoodoo (the wheels and drive train did not last long but it got me into mountain biking. I've given the frame to a neighbour)
Canyon Nerve 9.9 (killed by car)
Mekk Poggio 1.5 (sold as I didn't use it much)
Genesis Croix De Fer (Current commuter, I like)
Commencal Meta V4 trail (replacement for the canyon and more fun)

Oddly enough you can track my wage financial health

92 Saracen Tufftrax. Sold when I graduated because I was very skint.

94 Kona AA, bought with student loan, had front suspension. Now owned by brother in law, bit of a triggers broom.

08 Genesis 20. Still in use mostly as tow truck for trailer in forest.

05 stump jumper fsr, bought second hand on here to try out FS, love it and am aiming at a newer replacement sometime.

11 Whyte Kings Cross. Bought when kids arrived as easier to ride from home. Prob most used, school run, evening hacks etc.

A BSO that took me a year to kill
1997 Rockhopper A1 FS til it cracked in 07
(^did go missing for 9 months in 2000, my old man gave me his scott which promptly had the wheels stolen and a shopping trolley dumped on it)
2009 rockhopper expert, stolen after 9 months
Merlin frankenbike commuter (mostly built from bits of dead 97 rockhopper, rebuilt for a friend and then some tool decided to take a set of golf clubs to it in his basement)

2012 Spesh Crosstrails (very worn - dismantled)
2013 Heckler (built from frame- most parts donated by the wanga)

I think I've still got every bike or bike part that I've ever owned ๐Ÿ˜ฏ

2009? - Raleigh Freeride (it's now my mum's MTB)
2011 - Specialized Hardrock Pro (BB threads died so it's hanging on the shed wall)
2011 - Merlin Maven road bike (now stripped down and ready to go to the powdercoaters to give it a paintjob to disguise it's age/poor quality)
2012 - On One Whippet (still use it as a SS commuter from time to time)
2012 - Saracen Amplitude Cr1 (now a brakeless lake jump bike)
2013 - Canyon Grand Canyon CF SLX 29 8.9 (now a (shamefully expensive) winter bike)
2013 - Raleigh Mountain Lite 1984 (now a SSCX, and an awesome one it is too)
2014 - Singular Swift (now set up SS, although had gears on it for the winter races)
2014 - Revell Throttle (still the good jump bike, no lake jumps for this one)
2014 - Dawes Atlantis 1982 (been repainted in gloss black/nickel flecks and is the SS cafe ride bike)
2015 - Niner Air 9 RDO (the race bike for this year, courtesy of Bikesoup Test Team)

So 11 bikes in 6 years, 9 of which I'm still riding, with another 2 coming soon(only to review though ๐Ÿ™ ), do I have a problem? Is there any such thing as bike rehab?

Mountain biking for me started on a 23" Raleigh Massiff then
- Carerra STX (Stolen in Edinburgh so back to the Raleigh until it was nicked in Edinburgh to.)
- Saracen Tuff Trax with LX & Ritchey and upgraded to XT
- GT XCR 4000 (with XT then newer XT)
- Carrera Kraken (with the GT's old XT)
- GT Aggressor (with the Carerra's XT)
- 2008 Specialized Stumpjumper FSR (with the GT XCR's XT)
- 1998 Saracen Kili Team (with the Aggressor's old XT)
- 2010 Mondraker Foxy RR (with all new bling)
- 2011 Saracen Kili Flyer

and 3 Road bikes appeared somewhere in there aswell. 13 in 30 odd years. Hell that's way better than the almost ex missus claims!

Carrera something - stolen
Carrera something else - hung on a while
Kona Fire Mountain - 1st proper MTB
Kona Lava Dome - no actual improvement over the Fire Mountain
GT BMX (briefly) - WTF? srsly?
Kona A'ha - love at first sight
Trek VRX200 - worst bike EVER
Kinesis Maxlight XC - possibly best bike ever - lavished upgrades on it
Raleigh road bike - OK
Carrera road bike - OK
Condor Italia road bike - awesome - kept for nearly 10 years
On One Inbred SS - OK
On One Inbred geared - OK
(another) Kona A'ha - ripped off on eBay, Xtracycle conversion
Pace RC303 - Better than an Inbred
Surly Big Dummy - Amazeballs
Brompton - folds up
Chromag Samurai - rad as hell
Surly Karate Monkey - came at a bad time
Trek Remedy - didn't love
Cotic Solaris - brill.i.ant
Salsa Vaya - never gelled
Chromag Samurai65 - lovelovelove
Whyte Suffolk - emigration forced early sale

That's 23 in 18 years. There are a couple of big changeover points:

- moving to London and getting into road riding
- having spare money for the first time
- trying to get down to 1 MTB and 1 road bike
- moving to Hong Kong and getting rid of almost everything

The only one I still have is the Chromag Samurai65. Big Dummy and Brompton out of indefinite loan. Konas still with members of my family.

Only been riding ten years but I'm now on bike number 7 ๐Ÿ˜ณ

2004 Claud Butler Cape Wraith. Off the shelf. Great starter bike, brakes were shite, fork was average but it was great fun to fun to ride!

2006 Kinesis Maxlight XC120. First custom build absolutely loved this thing and could never bring myself to part with it. Very dated these days but still have the frame in the loft ready to hang in a future man cave.

2011 Ibis Mojo HD140. First Susser. Awesome. Brilliant. Kinda regret moving it on to fund bike #7

2012 On One 456 carbon. Replaced the Maxlight frame and moved the parts over fun over a short ride but never bonded with it. Sold the frame after 18 months.

2013 Stanton Slackline 631. Didn't last long, gutted as it had massive potential.

2013 Cotic BFe. Possibly the most fun HT I've owned. Looks awesome, rides brilliantly and is cool as hell. Don't ride it as much as I should really.

2015 Mondraker Foxy Carbon XR SE. Second carbon full sus and first off the shelf bike since 2004. Didn't stay off the shelf for long though. Complete game changer of a bike. Best of the lot? Quite possibly.

Four.

Scot FSR-2 An early DH rig: big heavy and lumbering like its owner
Orange EVO-2: A sprightly HT
Marin Mt Vision: the 2005 edition I think
Cotic Solaris.

Only ever had 5 road bikes in 50+ years.

Not sure if I had my Rockhopper 20 years ago, I might have just bought my Rocklobster frame.

Going from 1994 'cause I know I had my Rockhopper then:
9
1994 Rockhopper (complete bike)
1995 RockLobster (frame only)
1998 Orange X2 (frame only)
2001 Stumpjumper FSR comp (complete bike, insurance payout)
2009 Stumpjumper FSR elite (2nd hand frame only)
2011 SC Heckler (2nd hand frame only)
2011 RockLobster (frame only)
2013 Cotic Soul (2nd hand frame only)
2014 Banshee Rune (frame only)

My '94 Rockhopper (and a 1988 Giant Sierra) are the only complete bikes I've ever bought.
