From memory the shortest I have seen reported is about 870 miles? I imagine this is all A roads. Have a look for LEJOG records, you would think the fastest trips have also been the shortest.

Well..just written them both down, and actually really really close....not far apart at all, inch at the most!
Surprised me as well!

Looking at Gethin Butler's 2001 record, which doesn't state but does give his time for the LEJOG and mileage at 24hrs and his time to 1000 miles. So I worked out his average speed for 1000 miles and then calculated the mileage for his LEJOG time and I got 791miles approx.

It's not recorded because there are literally thousand of options.For instance, many opt to do Scotland via Arran.....
