There's plenty of riding gods on here who could show how it's done. I nominate DrP but he'll need a gap jump too. 😉
DrP might be coming to the Baby Bike Bash next month (held at the Southampton Bike Park) so I will be able to watch the master at work. I will try to get some videos of the event posted up here.
if you dont know how to ride it how did you build it? chances are the berms are probably all in the wrong place.
edit - it does look fun tho. pump like a basterd. get a small bike preferably with no suspension. look ahead. worry about your body shape for teh next berm rather than the one you are in. hop out of berms to transition between them if necessary. dont expect to do the whole thing every time.
also make brake removal mandatory.
^ Sorry, yes. I forgot.
I was expressing an opinion. Sorry.
I was also trying to support someone who had been set upon by the STW naysayers, for expressing a contrary opinion on something.
This is ultimately all pointless though, it's the internetz. Communicating with strangers by text turns us all (myself included) into a bunch of emotional dunces. And I'm only a chat bot anyway.
I have to say though - well done for making something like that - the kids will love it, and it'll get them out having some fun outside.
if you dont know how to ride it how did you build it
I handled the pick axe, Luis handled the design
Just got back from a 45 minute play over there and am getting smoother.
I forgot my phone otherwise I would have posted up better pictures. I will try tomorrow if I get time.
well done for making something like that
Thanks and yes, the kids love it. Kids of all ages. Google Southampton Bike Park Drone for a video clip from a couple of years back. It continues to get better. there is a facebook page too

Awesome, good work WCA. 😀
You are invited too as part of the original STW Southern Festival that led to the BBB, I just don't know your email address.
Baby Bike Bash
Saturday April 23rd 2016
You have been selected to receive this invitation because you have attended the Big Bike Bash, you were at the original event in my back garden, you ride with me or I just like you and know your email address****.
The Location
Southampton Bike Park | The Outdoor Sports Centre | Southampton | SO16 7AY
The Event
This amazing event is returning to the roots of the Big Bike Bash as held in my garden. We are stripping out all of the organisation, competitions, prizes and facilities that make the current Big Bike Bash such a phenomenon and I have simply borrowed the Southampton Sports Centre for the day. There will be stuff to do and an approximate agenda as shown below and if I can blag some stuff I will give it away as prizes but don't bank on it.
11am Meet at Southampton Bike Park (earlier if you want)
11am – 3pm Assorted races and free practice at the Bike Park including but not limited to:
Dual Races
Pump Track
Trick Jump
Daisy Cutter Descent
Daisy Cutter 2 – The uphill sprint
Eating whatever lunch you brought or nipping round the corner to Tesco
Sun/rain bathing
3pm-4pm Crazy Golf and / or Tennis
I have secured the use of the Tennis courts and Crazy Golf course so do as you please
4pm – 5pm Ski Slope Madness – Ringos
I have secured an hour of 'Ringo Time' on the dry ski slope.
There are a couple of conditions for this:
Must wear long sleeves and gloves
Max of 30 on the slope at any one time
You need to share your email address with Active Nation for 'Info Alert emails'
6pm – 7pm BBQ
Active Nation will be putting on a BBQ so bring some pennies for food.
Beer, wine etc you will have to bring yourselves or buy at the local Tesco
7pm - ??? Chatting, drinking, talking rubbish etc
The event will officially close around 7pm but you are welcome/expected to stay on and party for a while. There will be camping (no vans) available but this will just be next to the cricket pitches so don't expect luxuries such as toilets or running water. You will be able to use the changing room facilities on the Sunday morning for toilets and washing if you do stay over.
Just dont let everyone know or it might get crowded
email me (in profile) if you want to come

Wow; nice work.
You could probably put some more soil on the front side of the exit of the first berm to build it out a bit more....looks like no-one who's ridden it has used the exit.
It has only existed since Sunday so people are discovering the best lines. I was asking for advice on here in case anyone knew the 'correct' line.
I have been playing a bit and getting smoother.
I am thinking of doing some trail videos showing each of the trails over the bike park and the features on them.
Probably knock up some rough footage and then get Luis to do it properly.
Can't believe no one has linked to this....
no_eyed_deer - he actually came on to a thread asking for opinions on a line through a set of corners and suggested the OP get a new hobby for not sharing the same cycling philosophy that he did. Go for it if you want to support him.

Close, it was more a critique on the current trend for 'everyone' taking this exceptionally fun hobby far too seriously with skills courses, seeking advice on how to take a section of bends like they're all budding Steve Peats etc....what happened to riding and learning through trial and error?...with the associated fitness benefits and mistakes that went into the bargain too.
I love taking my bike into the hills and finding new sections, having no idea how best to approach them but trying anyway until I get it right.....or I could take photos and sit at home asking the STW riding collective instead....i know which one I'd choose.
I'm not questioning your approach or philosophy, everyone is in this sport for their own reasons. It was coming on a thread asking for advice on a line through some berms and effectively saying he was doing it all wrong and should find a different hobby for not doing it like you. Anyway, that's how it came across and I've fallen into the trap of trying to justify myself on an internet forum which I normally try and avoid at all costs!
Easiest way would to be watch one of the local chavs on a stolen BSO as he shows the rest of you how its done.
Probably while on his back wheel smoking a spliff.
3 to 4 looks like 4 blocks the exit
Maybe just angle of photo
I took no offense from anyone's comments.
I agree there can be over analysis which gets in the way of fun.
I agree that asking advice from others can help you ride better and have more fun more quickly.
I agree that spending 45 minutes just riding the trail made more difference than reading this thread.
I agree that reading this thread helped me see new lines to try.
Aren't I and agreeable chap?
Video to be posted up shortly showing the whole trail
Some inspiration...
WCA - Berms look a lot better laid out in the second set of photos - first set doesn't really do them justice - exit of 1st in to 2nd looks fine.
as i said practice slow and get faster. Don't brake and don't break (yourself) 😆
Some inspiration...
I think we are going to need a bigger hill...
There's plenty of riding gods on here who could show how it's done. I nominate DrP but he'll need a gap jump too.
I was just thinking the *best* way to ride them would involve a gap jump, using berm 1 as the takeoff and 3 as landing. No way I'd try that mind you.
Wca is this a permanently open facility/is any membership needed? If so who do i turn to? I'm looking at that and thinking a pre work play over the summer might be in order then pop down the Avenue to the office for 9.00. 😆
Edit...sorry where's my manners... It (the whole project) looks amazing.
Free to ride
Open to all
Never shut
My gift to you.
I really should take a look being as I'm in Ringwood. Might have to wait until the evening s are light enough.
Dig day the Sunday after Easter if anyone fancies coming along. A bit of shovel work and a bit of riding.
my gift to you
The fact that someone's gone to all this trouble for no gain makes me feel good about people - something I feel less and less when I see the news. You sir are a legend (and not just in a&e).
My gift to you.
Great, when are you sending it over? 😀
Excellent work all round though i'm a little dubious that you don't know how to ride them - every builder knows the best line on stuff he's* built.
* or she for the librarians
i'm a little dubious that you don't know how to ride them
I am the imagineer, not the engineer 🙂
I imagined the bike park and got the whole project underway and presented the basic park design but consider me the laborer when it comes to the construction.
I know roughly how to ride them, I was looking for STW insight.
Check out the Raw video. I think this shows exactly how to ride the berms...
That vid makes it look a great asset. Nice work matey!
Thanks, we are hoping to have clips for each of the trails. Only another seven to go...
