[Closed] How are people posting wheels these days?

Last time I posed a set of wheels it was £12:50 through parcelforce.

Is that still the best option or are there other options where I can just drop them off somewhere. Package is too big for collect+ and value wouldn't be covered by hermes.

Used Parcelforce 48 for the last one we posted, it does make it difficult to sell them when you factor in their postage charges.

If you've not used parcel2go before, there's a discount code for new customers that IIRC amounts to £20 off.

myhermes - cheapest out of all IMO. Bad reviews on the net but i've never had any issues (I will from now on though 🙁 )

How much were you charged using Parcelforce 48?

I always use hermes but compensation only goes up to £250 which isn't enough. Plus the parcel is too big to send via hermes 'If you add the two shortest dimensions and multiply them by two, add the length, the total calculation needs to be under 225cm'

Guess I could use the cheaper compo option on parcelforce and take the chance. Do you need to buy online or can you do it at the post office?

I'm confused here. I've gone on parcelforce website, got a quote and its about £18. Gone to the next stage where it open a horrible clunky website, enter the details again and the price jumps up to £45!

Always take to Post Office but I'm not sure they always get it right. Posted a Fox 20mm axle last week and it cost £3.90. There doesn't seem to be any consistency between Post Offices

I normally use Parcel2Go/Hermes. Seems cheapest and of course means I am not putting money into RM which is a bonus.

I used Interparcel last time. Think it was about £15, and you can add extra insurance.

The parcels too big for Parcel2Go/Hermes. I've got it down to £20.75 with £300 compensation. Or £11.70 with £0 compensation.

www.senditnow.com

It's a cheap front end for parcel force, I use it for everything from wheels up - frames, whole bikes etc...

12.40+VAT for next day inc. £100 compo plus £1.50 per extra £100 compo

And senditnow is the winner. Still cost £19 though!

Thanks

Worth checking if it's cheaper to send as 2 separate parcels if it gets you under the size limits with myhermes etc. I'm pretty sure I've sent wheels with them before...

Hermes, the package should fit in their guidelines?

I have a business account with them for work, and use it to ship stuff I sell, including wheels.

I've sent wheels before with them, for well under £10 with insurance.

'If you add the two shortest dimensions and multiply them by two, add the length, the total calculation needs to be under 225cm'

the box is 65*65*30 so doesn't fit hermes max size.

I could have used two separate boxes I guess, and sent two parcels which would have cost just over £14. So could have save £5 but would have needed to source a box.

I wouldn't worry about the dimensions when they are that close, they are more interested in the weights being correct (from our account manager, as we ship a lot of items that 'just' over the theoretical max volume they allow).

I had two sets to sell and I sold the other set last night so send these via hermes in two separate packages. Max compensation is £250 so to be fully covered I needed to send two packages anyway.
