I'm in ๐
we're in ๐
We got in last week with pre entrys. ๐
Thanks for the reminder! Am in ๐
I'm in, but just as a rider, as I live relatively near by.
Not done HOTS before, is it a South Costwolds version of the HONC, or a bit more technical?
^^^ its the complete opposite of honc .
In....
There is much more off-road work than the usual HONC so whilst I think I did see a cyclocross bike or two once, it would be much harder work on one than HONC if that helps. There are fewer riders and a more relaxed atmosphere riding on some fantastic trails. The food and raffle afterward is very good.
For me, at my level, it is the best event of the year.
I'm looking forward to the cider ๐
Im clicking the buy ticket button and nothings happening !
edit working now .. i dont want camping though ... cant i just ride without the camping option ?
The ride only tickets went in less than 15 minutes.
Spectator tickets only now
It was won on a CX bike last year. There is loads of technical singletrack, but also plenty of road / gravel. A superlight hardtail would be the best compromise, but way more fun on a full sus.
People consider what bike would be fastest? ๐ฏ
They must be attending a different event to the one we've done.
Mid event nap after a pleasant lunch stop anyone? ๐
As it is not really a race, how can someone 'win'? ๐
I think you meant the first person to get round the course was on a CX bike
I have a camping ticket, if anyone wants to upgrade to it for their ride only ticket drop me an email in profile.
Who cares who won and what bike they rode , 99 % of us go for the event not the winning .
But there will always be a few dks see it as 'serious' and must be ridden as fast as possible at all costs.
I quite enjoyed doing the quarry section three times in a row 2 years ago ๐ the homemade flapjack was also particularly nice!
However, I might not do the 75km on a single speed Krampus this year, nearly killed me it did.
Looking forward to this again!
Was only pointing out that it's plenty doable on a crosser. Calm down dears. If you'd prefer, a guy on a CX was first back on the 75km.
Is a great event. You can take it steady or go for it. Whatever makes you happy.
I fear I started the CX part of this thread as a way of explaining to mikemorini how it compares to HONC, which is CX friendly- many apologies.
The organisers specifically say they don't recommend CX bikes or tandems but as long as it has two wheels and is pedal powered you can make your own choice..... Mine has alway been a hardtail up till now but I may have a change this year
Group of 8 in and all camping both nights
loved 2015 really looking forward to it!
we have a mix from steel hardtails to 160mm enduro rigs.
bugger. missed out!
Did it year before last, the only cx rider I saw taco'd his wheel half way round!
