Hi,

Could anyone recommend a place to stay in Winchester for 2 people with bikes before hitting the SDW early in the morning?

Cheers
Michal

There's a new holiday Inn outside town with a big car park and they won't care about bringing bikes in.

I stayed here twice Complyns BnB because it's at the start of the SDW - literally exit and turn left up the hill and follow the signs for 100 miles - they are bike friendly and it's spotless. Nice owners. You can arrive, drop of bikes and walk to town through a field and path in 20 mins. Really pretty place. Vastly more pleasant than a generic tower block. I was up at 3.30 and had my breakfast - all laid out and then off for a 4am start to arrive at 7pm at end.

There is a lovely little woods a few miles south east of the city - I'll be there on Saturday evening, and then have an MRE and go and start at 0600 Sunday morning and then pace a pal on his first SDW. Its going to be a warm dry night so why not?

Premier Inn let us keep bikes in the room and leave the car in their car-park for an extra day&night FOC. They were obviously used to SDW-in-a-dayers staying there. Downside was they didn't do early breakfast, so on that basis I'd go with Wally's recommendation.

Another vote for Complyns B&B stayed there a couple of years back before doing the BHF SDW. Clean, very friendly and helpful. Somewhere safe to lock the bike away as well.

I'm envious, good luck to you and your pal!

I've wild camped the night before a couple of times too, great way to start the adventure.

Thanks Poop, I get to camp on the ride home too cos I don't fancy the train or getting in a car bubble.
A weekend of MRE's here we come.

And some brilliant weather!
