Was looking to pop down to do a couple of trail centres, probably Dalbeattie and Ae, this weekend and was looking for a hostel around there. Seems Urr Lodge isn't there anymore (certainly website and phone are dead anyway). The YHA at Newton Stewart is shut for individual bookings (was a bit far to go anyway).
Anyone know of anywhere? Preferably a hostel for a cheap dorm bed but cheap B&B might need to be considered.
Thanks

Think there is racing on at Ae this weekend but unsure if trails shut - Drumlanrig is open

I grew up in Dalbeattie. The idea of anything other than a hostel for the dysfunctional being needed there still astounds me. 🙂

Marthrown of Mabie is a campsite in Mabie forest which has a bunkhouse for £17 a night.

If you want something a bit more upmarket the Mabie house Hotel does a mountain biker B&B special rate for £35 per person and secure lock up for the bikes. The food was pretty good there too (been a couple of years since my last visit) and its right at the trail head. Its also has wooden pods in the hotel grounds which would be £20 a head if there's 2 of you.
