I have some old Formula K18 hoses lying around, can anyone tell me if the caliper end would fit directly onto an XT765 caliper?

Doesn't look like it - the shimano hose end screws directly into the housing and seem teh formula oro k18 has a loop end in in which a bolt with a hole in it goes through so teh hose is adjacent to the body of the housing if that makes sense - see:
