I've got one. OK for road use, but off road its difficult (for me) to tighten the clamp up enough to stop it swinging round on the bar.

Thinking about changing mine for an Exposure Joystick.

Great quality though and 4x rechargeable AAs give good burn times.

I've got one. Used it for years off road. Only issue was as above. Was selling it until I dropped it on the floor and now it doesn't work. ๐Ÿ˜ฅ

I have one I use it as a hat light. It has quite a narrow beam which throws a good distance. Work well with a decent bar light. I run a magic shine the three light one.

Return it to Hope, they repair them.

Use mine daily for commuting (obviously when its dark) and it does the job fine. Bright enough, and gives good beam.
Used as a back up off road, and it was ok, beam was a bit narrow, but workable.
Batteries last a long time on the lower settings, but can be a bit quick in the highest settings and tbh the extra power isn't really worth it.

ps: anyone having difficulty with it slipping. Just wrap some old inner tube around your bars, and secure with zip ties. You can then clamp it a lot tighter-no slipping

imo you're better off buying a torch from dealextreme. the hope 1 is a bulky thing and not that bright. from my pov the joystick is difficult to justify in the output/pound stakes, but it is a neat bit of kit, and very convenient.
just my 2p, ymmv, etc.

In my experience its great as a lid light. 3 hours on max, good output and beam reach but the only downside is its a little heavy.

On the bars its pants, far too narrow a beam, bushes every time on a corner!

Complements the bastid well on the bars.
