I'm running a complete V2 brakeset, inc. rotors. The V2 pads are quite large, hence the V2 rotor has a wide surface area.
I'd like to get a 2nd set of wheels and would like to know if I have to use V2 rotors, or can I get away with something else ? Most wheels I'm looking at are C/L so I'd be running XT/XTR rotors. So if anyone has run XTR rotors with V2 calipers, please let me know.

Nope. Like you say, it has a deeper track so something with a shallow track isn't going to work properly.
