Not sure if this has been done but anyone using? How are they compared with Shimano/TIME?

I’ve been using Race and Trail versions. So far so great. Very high quality, and 1st ride on them they functioned like the many different models of SPD’s I’ve been using for over 20 years, which is to say I forgot they were there and just got on with riding, no accidental un-clips, no rattles, no getting stuck.

I suppose the question then is are they better than eg. XT SPDs?

Better, hard to quantify. They look nice and are made in UK by nice people who look after their staff and have good warranty support. I don’t mind supporting that by giving my money to them.

Too soon to say how long they’ll last or what maintenance is needed, but at least I’ll be able to buy spare parts. I got fed up of the somewhat disposable nature of Shimano products.

Spares available for Shimano pedals no problem, as well as most other parts.

Are the Hope ones completely incompatible with Shimano?

Which they will discontinue making at some point, leaving all pedal owners with useless pedals....

in about 20 years probably… They keep spare parts available for an awful long time usually.

Shimano pedals are incredibly durable IME.

Once upon a time, maybe.

Ask them for the aluminium top half of their 10-48 cassette.

Or replacement shells for my Pro 2 SS hubs - both with flange failures. Asked about 4 years ago, and was told that they stopped supporting them years before that.

I've asked for some (Trail flavour) from Santa.

First clipless pedals so a little in to the unknown.

Someone I know has a mate who races on them and reckons they're great, but I doubt said mate has paid for them.

Sadly no plan to make a single sided pedal apparently, which probably means I'm out regardless of how good they are (need single siders for the Hybrid of Doom)

Shimano pedals are incredibly durable IME.

So are TIME except they wreck your shoes unless you use steel shims.
