[#9861843]

Afternoon,I've had these for a good 18 mths, noticed some rear drag so took out pads and noticed the pads are unevenly worn, the rotor doesn't catch all of pad so theirs a groove/excess pad above where rotor should make contact with pads,(make any sense??) bit like on a car disc when the pads are wearing into disc,

Is this normal or do I have incorrect mount?its a 160mm rotor with j mount adapter, washers on bolts that hold caliper too mount also washers on bolts through frame too brake adapter.

Edit.

Haveย  re-bleed,pistons fine and go in ,drag is from rear bearings as thought, but can't think why pads have uneven wear??

IS to post rear 160 is an F mount with the caliper directly on the adaptor with no washers. J mount is for the front 183 so is probably raising the caliper 1.5mm too high.

As above hope do 160 and 163mm adaptors. Sounds like you've got the wrong one.

Ok,just too add, bolts with washers just holding down caliper as per norm with most bolt fixings?on all of my bikes like that, ill give the f mount a try, iirc I used adapter out of spares box at the time so may well of overlooked, thanks.

Sorry I wasnt quite sure what you were saying but a washer between the bolt head and the caliper is normal, but not between the caliper and the mount. Unless of course you are trying to use a 183 disc with a 180 mount and need a washer to space it out which is what I am doing ๐Ÿ™‚

Uneven pad wear can be sticky pistons, or a caliper not centred on the disc.

I found I needed to fine tune my caliper with washers between it and the mount. Using E4s with the correct hope adaptors and discs. never had to do that with Shimano but then again they just tend to sit with a bit of pad above the disc unlike the hopes which had a tiny bit of disc sticking out of the pads.

Sir hc that's a cracking video,I found that two of the front pistons in the rear were very sticky,I need some new pads before I can properly see if I've solved problem,ย  I've re bled but not installed pads, that's pretty much as well as the above what's happened,Exellent.

Andyl they sit approx 2mm below edge of pad,not above in this case, hopefully f mount will sort that issue.

Cheers guys,as mostly all ways this place is a wealth of knowledge and possibilities when it comes too servicing problems.
