[#4258845]

can i use the hope tech v2 brakes with my shimano adapters , ive just nabbed some lovely looking brakes, but right now ive got xt calipers on adapters for bigger discs, im not sure how to progress once they arrive ?

obviously i need hope rotors, do i also need hope brake adapters too ? or can i get away with the shimano ones ?

What size? The adaptors set the size rather than the caliper. If you use a 200mm adaptor with a 203 rotor, it might scrape a little on the outer edge. A washer under the caliper will sort this though.

hmmm ive got a 180 on both front and rear, i could ? just grab some hope adapters after looking at how cheap they are, how good are the tech v2 brakes compared an old pair of xt ?

Not ridden old xt but love my v2. 203 front, 183 rear. The Hope adaptors look nicer anyway.

ok guys, i need to update this thread with more questions....

ive got some rock shox sid race forks, and a trek 8900 zr frame, im unsure of the correct adaptors now for the new hope brakes im going to be putting on very soon.

id like to use a 203 on the front and a 183 on the rear...

im not sure what to order from crc, do i need to the post mount is to is adaptor on the front ? im unsure about the rear too, any help is much appreciated.

Bear in mind that the V2 brakes only work with the V2 rotors due to the surface area being larger than most (correct me someone if i'm wrong). Also a 203mm rotor would be a bad idea on a Sid xc fork due to the stress it would put on the fork.
If going on an xc bike would the tech x2 brakes not be a better option, or even m4's if your looking for more power?

If your SIDS are the older ones with IS mounts (two little tabs with holes in the side) you need This for a 183 disc
If they are newer ones with post mounts (two posts with a hole in the end) you need This to fit a 183 disc
I wouldn't go bigger on a Sid

One of These would be fine on an m4
Edit..I'd get hope rather than superstar personally, heard some horror story's about those on here

You can run a v2 rotor on a m4, it's the other way round you have problems due to the bigger v2 caliper, so a matching pair of v2 rotors would be fine.

did you look at my edited post with the 180 rotors ??

I think so, I've had m4 and v2 black rotors and they looked the same.
Famous last words.....I'd get two v2 rotors personally.

Noooooo!!!! They're m4 m2 ones, They'll foul the v2 calliper.....
Get the v2 disc as they have a deeper braking surface for the bigger v2 calliper
