[#1716070]

Could someone help me understand the difference between.

Pro ll Rear 32H - 135mm - 10mm - 6 Bolt (Bolt-In)
Pro ll Rear 32H - 135mm - 10mm - 6 Bolt (SAINT)
Pro ll Rear 32H - 135mm - 12mm - 6 Bolt
Pro ll Rear 32H - 135mm - QR - 6 Bolt

The last one i get as a std QR hub and assume the 6 bolt referrs to the rotor.

But the others have lost me. I get the 10mm/12mm bit but not the (bolt-in) (saint) and other.

different axle fittings. Saint rear mechs bolt to the axle, don't they? I guess the first one is 10mm axle that you bolt to the frame rather than QR

10 mm bolt in = normal dropouts but using bolts instead of QR (like this: linky)
12 mm = maxle or similar

you can also get 10mm non bolt in which allows you to use a 10mm QR axle in normal dropouts (like this: linky

Not sure about the saint one, think it might be for the weird fitting they have where the mech attaches to the axle?

I have a saint rear mech and it bolts to the mech hanger.

Let me put it this way, which would be the best for trail riding/swinley and the odd trip to the alps. The rims will be flow and i have a set of deemax dor the hardcore freeride stuff. I am thinking 10mm QR?

The old M800 saint used a threaded axle through the hub to attach the mech. It's the same hub you would use a RWS style 10mm skewer with. The others are self explanatory. I'd go 10mm QR with a DT RWS skewer. I've been running them for a few years and it's far stiffer than a regular q/r

What frame is it? That'll be the deciding factor. If its a normal quick release dropout then you just want the 135mm QR hub. Although some people use QR's that also form the axel (i.e. the lever is threading onto the axel rather than a seperate QR insisde the axel), you'd have to ask hope about those as I've no idea, and they don't work in every frame.

The new saint mechs are just normal ones like SLX/XT/XTR, its the original saint ones that had the stronger axel mounts (but that limits frame choice as mentioned above).

135mm standard qr then
or 10mm bolt in or 10mm through (with the SS 10mm qr) if you want want improved stiffness

if you want want improved stiffness

Why is it stiffer and by how much?

not by much, the bigger QR in the bolt through QR's will in theory clamp the 2 sides of the frame together tighter arround the hub. Possibly of more benifit on the front where the forks are nowhere near as stiff as the triangulated rear end of a frame.

A 10 mm bolt up rear on my 07 stumpjumper made a noticable difference to the stiffness of the rear triangle. I went for the 10mm saint bolt in STD dropoupts btw. A 10mm bolt is always stronger than a thin bit of steel wire found in a qr
