anybody running this light? ill probably get one of these for my bars and continue to use my glowworm x2 on the helmet

just wondered how long will the r4 lightweight run for? the blurb on the sites is generic and tells you the same run time for all types of battery offerings, which cant be the case!

so anyone used one? also is the light good as a bar light? i like the fact you can run the mount right in the centre of the bars away from the stem where my garmin will sit

Is it any different to the standard R4 (Ive not heard of the lightweight version).

I run one on my helmet with a Four4th on the bars. Used to just have the R4 but felt it wasn't quite enough. Works well as with the Four4th combo though

Specific run times in the manual if you download it. You'd want to be careful going for a long night ride with just the small battery.

From my manual (assuming small battery, just double figures for the endurance version)

Race mode
=======
Medium: 4:00
High: 2:00
Max: 1:15

Trail mode:
=======
Low: 8:00
Medium: 4:00
Flash: 8:00

Moral of the story? Get the pack with two batteries (big + small). Small for summer riding / road commuting / using it as a head torch and the big battery for everything else.

falperon - is that the lightweight single cell run time then? i thought they had only just bought this version out?

if so it doesnt sound like its going to be sufficient for me, is race mode the brighter mode over the trail mode?

Mode 1 in Trail sequence will now run for a massively extended 50 hours, and mode 2 in Trail now runs for over 20 hours.
This makes the R4 lamp even more versatile in terms of getting exactly the level of light that you need, whilst preserving the battery life during periods when only a low level of light is sufficient.
The standard system now includes the 5200mAh (Epic/4 cell) rechargeable Li-Ion battery pack as standard so burn time in max mode is now 2.5 hours. The endurance option is still available but now includes two 5200mAh (Epic/4 cell) batteries. The new ‘lightweight’ option includes the smaller 2600mAh (2 cell) Li-Ion battery which offers half the burn times of the 5200mAh (Epic) battery for shorter duration activities, although it is worth noting that the 2600mAh battery will now provide over 25 hours of light in the new low mode. Also new for 2012/13 is the ‘lightweight endurance’ which includes 2 x 2600mAh (2 cell) Li-Ion battery packs, and the ‘All Sport’ option which includes 1 x 5200mAh battery and 1 x 2600mAh battery.

parksie cheers- not sure how i missed that one 😆

righty so that confirms it the lighweight battery will only run for 1.25 hours on full pelt....not much use to me then!

ill have to get the normal sized battery one i reckon then that will last 2.5 hours on full
