I have 'Hope Pro 11' rear hub, previously run QR.

I bought conversion kit Hub231 to convert it to X12.

The hub still seems to be 135mm wide with the new axle and end caps fitted. I was expecting it to be 142.

Have I done anything wrong or have I got a 135mm 12mm conversion kit in the wrongly labelled bag (does such a thing exist)?

Is it just the end caps that change it from 135mm to 142 or does the axle change too?

I think I should have got end caps that look like this;

mine look like;

If you've got a Pro2, you need the new axle too.. the Pro2 Evo comes with a wider axle to start with and the conversion is just end caps. Does the 12mm axle fit through the axle in the hub at the moment?

Sounds like you've got a 135x12 from what you're saying (or you still need to install the axle).

I'm sure someone with more knowledge will be along shortly.

EDIT - by wider above, I meant larger diameter.. no idea how the width side-to-side varies if at all.

this is the bag it came in;

the X12 axle fits through but it's only 135mm across the ends of the axle and too narrow for the frame.

triffic.

Just what I need on my new build ๐Ÿ™

I have a 'Pro11' hub engraving not 'Pro2' - does that make any difference?

The hub/axle width should stay the same and only the end caps alter the overall width between 135 and 142. Give hope a quick ring and talk to them, sounds like you just need the correct end caps.

No the engraving doesn't matter - it's only the Pro II EVO when things were made simpler (same axle - only end caps change and the axle stronger !)

cheers - have sent CRC an email and will see what they say.

Not sure they'll want the end caps back no they've been fitted? We'll see.

The photos should be clear to someone who knows the product. Alternatively try a phone call to Hope, most people rate their after sales service (I have found it a mixed bag).

the end caps in your wheel photos look identical to my 135 x 12mm Pro2 conversion (think my hubs are labelled Pro II as well, of no significance).

That looks like the old Maxle 135x12 ( http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/hope-pro-2-conversion-kits-12mm-thru-rear/rp-prod21849 ) and not a proper 142x12 (X12) ( http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/hope-pro-2-conversion-kit-x12-rear/rp-prod47535)

Right code on the bag by the looks of it, wrong product in the bag. I hope this isnt a sign of things going down hill at Hope, as I recently had an a standard X12 end cap labelled as XX1/XD X12, which then didnt fit my XD body. LBS sorted it no probs but shouldnt have happened.

Same happened to me when I bought the correct kit
From bike tart. They had sent the wrong end caps in bag.
A quick call and it was sorted very quickly by them without any more cost to me.
It seems like they're all at it
