No problem- though, there's a design fault that means the axle isn't really strong enough for the job, very thin walls. Does the Mega have a full-thickness axle or does it taper down from 12mm in the middle? If it's the former it'll help support the wheel, which reduces the problem

Next time I break my axle I'm going to swap to Pro 2 Evo internals I think, they were redesigned to fix the fault but it's quite a big change.

iirc the axle is 12mm straight.

i thought i heard something about the hub internals snapping extremely easily. I will investigate the Pro II Evo internal solution if/when i break it.

No problem here either (Orange Alpine with tapered axle). If it's clamped up properly I can't see how the axle can't be strong enough??

All they did to convert the pro 2 to take 12mm was drill a bigger hole through the axle- there's no meat left in it at all. Add to that a wee stress riser beside the middle bearing, right at the thinnest point. And this happens:

I've had 2 replaced on warranty- Hope know it's an issue and are very quick to deal with it when they go, so it's not too bad.

For piece of mind get the EVO upgrade if your going 12mm. I've been running the EVO for over a year now with no problems, before the EVO I was breaking axles regularly.

Best to upgrade your hub internals

You should be able to sell the old bits on to lesson the cost!

At very least try to avoid the maxles with no support in the middle:

The older ones and newer ones both have full support for the whole axle. It's not a dead cert fix but should be less likely to snap. Never had an issue myself, using a standard Pro II and latest style Maxle at the moment.

I was still breaking axles every 2 months... I guess it depends how hard you ride ๐Ÿ˜ˆ

I snapped two axles in quick succession when using the Maxle Lite with un unsupported middle section (both replaced free of charge by Hope to their credit). I switched to the original Maxle and haven't had a problem since. More a design fault of the axle than the hub in my opinion.

Nah- both mine were on a solid axle. 2 different bikes, as well.
