As per title, do I need the spacer between the free hub and the cassette? When I try with it on I run out of free hub body before the 11th sprocket. It seems fine without it, but when mount the wheel there is movement on the cassette. Is this normal or do I maybe have the wrong end cap?

No spacer, knackered free hub bearings will give you cassette movement.

With a Deore 11-51 11 speed cassette on a Pro 5 HG freehub I need to use the small supplied spacer.

On my Pro 4s you need the spacer for anything that's not 11 speed Road (I've always assumed that that would include 12 speed but I could be wrong).

Yes it’s 12 speed ms. I think I have the wrong end cap.
