I'm going to try and build up Mavic TN 719 29er rims on hope pro 2 hubs. The ERD varies depending on who has measured it but I'm either going to go with 601mm or 602mm, unless somebody knows different ? Now when I go to the wheelpro calculator the spokes for front and rear hubs are the same length, is that right, i.e front/rear left side the same length? Also say I have the left side at 296.6mm and the right side at 298.0mm can I just use a spoke length of 297mm? As you can see I'm still new to all this wheel building stuff. ๐ณ
Bump for the evening crowd.
a few mm out will be fine so, yes
Thanks, wasn't too sure if you had to be spot on in length.
Interesting point - I've just built some Pro 2s onto Stans Crest rims, and now you mention it, the rear and front spoke lengths were very close (1mm either way).
In addition, with disc hubs you often find the spokes are pretty close in length from one side to the other, so you could probably get away with 297mm spokes, or even 298mm. It should make it easier sourcing the spokes, if nothing else!
You'll get away with a bit of variance on the length - decent nipple choice will help there as you might find an extra few turns of thread goes a long way.
Curious as to why you've gone for the TN719's specifically, and there's nothing veiled / implied in that question, it's purely out of curiosity. ๐
I normally use A719's for my builds, but wondered about the TN719's for the next (and fairly imminent) set, so I'm interested in other people's choice / decisions in case I've missed something (other than the poor translation from the French product notes).
I might just be tempted to use Hope hubs next time too, rather use than XT again (although I've always got on fine with XT ...).
OCB it's a cost thing really, I would like to use some flows or crests but can't afford them plus my hubs have 36 holes so that's why I'm going to use them.
