I think J bend spokes look smarter and the hubs look easier to clean, lighter... but are hope hubs forged? think not

but then straighpulls are meant to build a better stiffer wheel - could be handy for a 29er with crest rims... but hubs look messy, hard hard to clean?

Thoughts?

I'd look at where you'll be riding it - if you're planning to head away from 'civilisation' then a J bend spoke will be easier to find if a replacement becomes necessary.

Yer good point - you never know do you and at least with 29er even a road focused shop could help.

I've just gone for standard j-bend ones for my new build. Far less hassle when looking for spares.

on the hope site is says you get a few spare spokes? - though apart from a duff Brompton wheel can't remember the last time I have broken a spoke on any bike..

Think you get a pack with 2 x spokes and stickers per box so 4 spokes as spares. Had straight pull hopes for over a year never broken a spoke. They look really good but are a pian to keep clean ...
