I need a replacement top bearing for my Hope Headset and the official Hope ones seem a bit pricey, does anyone know of a alternative which works just as well, or do I have to just bite the bullet and get the official one?
Hope ones are very good but I have used ones from Superstar before as a budget option and they have been fine. Need to check the angles and sizes though but these might be the right ones: http://www.superstarcomponents.com/en/type-1-headset-bearings-36x45-degree-cane-creek-compatible-x2.htm
That Superstar one looks correct for Hope 11/8".
just checked my hope headset as I had the fork out and it's on it's original Hope stainless bearings but they are not marked.
A bit of googling suggests they are 45 deg outer and 36 deg inner chamfer which sounds like what I remember.
The other option is 45 deg inner and outer.
