Yeah just saw that through Facebook. Very sad indeed. I remember going to talk to him in Colne about an a-level school project. He was kind, generous, down to earth but never disparaging as a 17-year old fool waffled on about suspension design and theory.

Damn, im pretty new to mountain biking, and had some hope hubs fitted to a wheel build on a whim, and have been enjoying them for about a year now.

Next time I hear that trademark zzzzzzzzzzzz, which is quite often, I'll think of him. RIP

His son Sam has done the Trans Provence for the last 2 years, which I've worked on. We were chatting in France less than 2 weeks ago, and he said he was hoping to bring his dad out to ride it in 2017.

Sad.

RIP, and condolences to friends & family.

What a damn shame, that's too young even for someone who packed so much into the years he had.

RIP Mr Simon Sharp

Awesome work building Hope Technology into a shining example of UK innovation and manufacturing prowess.

I enjoyed building lots of wheels with your hubs, and your lights have let me ride in dark woods.

Condolences to his family and friends, what a legacy. My hope mono mini's were the squekiedt brakes around but they looked cool as, and those pro 2 hubs could be taken apart blind folded!

I well remember visiting the original factory on Hope Street and eyeballing the stacks of steel, alloy and titanium billet lying around waiting to be turned into bike parts, as well as various mountain and motor bikes in various stages of repair, obviously after hard use judging by the mud. I've only just taken the original Hope Mini brakes off my Global to sell and the original Ti hubs are still in perfect condition despite many changes of bearing. The new factory is an incredible place, with some superb CNC machines. His family and colleagues can be proud of what he and they achieved.

Very sad news, and (reading the link) another possible pointer to the potential hidden tragedy waiting in a whole load of "action" sports ๐Ÿ™

Yes reading up on Dave Mirra how many of us have the undiagnosed damage?

I've had severe concussion twice - hopefully minimal damage ๐Ÿ™

Yeah really sad to hear about this on Monday. Met him years ago when Hope first started, when I was an apprentice.
Sad loss once again to depression, R.I.P. Simon.
Deepest condolences to his family, friends & work colleagues.
