Anyone know what size I need for a hope external bb?

Its not standard size,Hope or Enduro are the only company that make them. I've tried the Enduro and they don't last as long as Hope.
Best price I think is at Wiggle, but I recently bought a batch from UKbikestore and got a slight bulk discount.
i bought mine from Chainreaction as they were cheaper than Wiggle - they were £16 each if memory serves

I plan on using standard 25mm bearings and a 1mm spacer.
kasae (katec) does a "standard sized bearings+top hat" to fit hope shells, reasonable money.
disclaimers - not used them myself yet.
Merlin have them at £15.12 each.
Just thinking out loud here but, would the shimano top hat mean you could run easy to get bearings, similar to the set up mrmonkfinger is talking about?
Another thing strikes me that though Hope & BETD are engineering companies making bike bits, they probably dont make bearings so someone out there has to be supplying them for another application. This being the case they might be around for less.

Hope get them made by INA to their own spec.
Of course, if Mr Shimano had been sensible when he invented HT2, he'd have specc'd a 25mm crank axle...
No idea what they are like, but cheap. (I only run cheap ones in my Shimano as they all die from lack of maintenance before they wear out)

Pretty sure he did it on purpose so the top hat made it 24mm & gave a marginal extra barrier against grime... or another barrier to hold the grime in, one or the other 🙂
Cheers guys, didn't realize they were there own unique size.. I'd got some 6805 bearings as a google search lead me to this! Needless to say they didn't fit! Should've checked with the STW massive first!
Anyways, I have sorted it now!

Glad you're sorted but to confirm what was said above, the Hope brackets have custom made stainless bearings from INA to Hope spec.
cheap bearings = low manufacturing tolerances = quicker wear rate...
£16 each, wow. Honestly I would take that money, buy a gusset ext24, spend the change on sherbet dib dabs, and next time the bearings need replaced glory in the standard sizing. I imagine you can sell even a tired Hope BB to a fanboy.
You could - I tried that but the Gussett ext 24 lasted me precisely 3 rides 🙁
In the same frame, Shimano had lasted 6-12 months and Hope has so far lasted me 18 months, a clear winner 🙂

You can, and several people have sold theirs to me.
£10 for a pair of cups, £26 for a new pair of bearings. One nearly new BB for £36. Thankyou very much 🙂
It appears you can buy them in quite a few places, Google has even thrown up these ceramic ones. Overkill though unless you get a huge "ceramic bearing inside" sticker with them.
