The bearing are starting to grind and cranks don't spin round.
Is it possible to fit new bearing or it is best to send the BB off to Hope? If so has anyone else replaced the bearings themselves and any hints on where to purchase said bearings from?
Cheers
if its a hope BB then the bearings fitted are by "ini fag" - skf will do as they are of teh same quality. try ebr bearings on ebay
sent my cups (shimano) off to betd and they put in enduro bearings in for £25 posted (don't know if it's the same price now).Used them for courier work for 7 months and they were still smooth as ever.Bike got nicked but I'm sure they would have gone on for another 7 and more.Maybe hope will be cheaper if it's their own BB.
If there no play in them, but there 'just' rough and gritty, try cleaning out the bearing rather than replacing, just yet (this assumes the hope ones have the same kind of sealing as the shimano ones)..

Just reserrected some bearing I thought were dead by doing this.
As an aside what have pppl done "tophat" wise when you fitted 6805 bearing to shimano cups? The std shimano tophats don't fit onto the 6805 bearings...
(I do have a lead to follow up, but wondered about other ppl's experiences)
