I watched a fair few YouTube videos but none show or mention anything about lubing the O Ring on the new bore cap. Does this have to be lubed (I wouldn't think it likes going in dry ;0) and if so, what should be used, just a little wipe of brake fluid, or Hunter Silicon lube ?

Just a smear of brake fluid has always worked for me.
If you've got some red grease that may be a bit better, but meh.

If you've got Hunter's use that. While DoT fluid is wet which will help, silicon lub is actually slippery
