They're too long by almost 8 inches each. How do I do it and what will I need? Thanks!

Something I didn't see on the video I used: to get the olives back on you have to trim back the plastic coating at the end by about 6 or 7mm. You then have to get a flat bladed screwdriver in to the gap in the olive and open it right up to get it over the braiding (they're designed to just go over the non-braided version, which are significantly narrower).

Not doing the above will cause a lot of swearing and fluid loss.....from you and the brake ๐Ÿ˜‰

A little tip.
Mark where you want to cut them then use a stanley knife to remove the plastic outer coating before you cut the hose. Then open up the olive a bit and slide it down the hose and cut off the excess.
Saves having to open the olive up too much to try and get it over the slightly frayed braiding.

Record WC6 cutters seem to do the job of cutting cleanly.

I've fitted goodridge hoses to 3 bikes now and on each occasion the instructions supplied said "DO NOT CUT BACK THE OUTER SHEATH".

I wrote the instruction linked by bigdugsbaws. The Hope braided hose (made by Goodridge but using different fittings, I believe) needs to have the plastic coating removed in order to fit the 5mm Hope olives. Your advice may apply to the Goodridge branded braided hose, where the insert is threaded, but it is incorrect for the Hope kit which uses a barbed insert and relies solely on a compression fit from the olive and shroud.

I just fitted a Goodridge hose to a Formula brake last week, and that needed the plastic cutting back - that was carried in the written instructions too. Don't know about Hope, never used any Hope brakes, so it is probably brake model specific to formula.

BTW, what a rip-off Goodridge hose was, bought from CRC didn't say it only did 1 brake!
