[#13528694]

Help as confused trying to convert a rear wheel to boost and I thought it was going to be simple.

I have a Hope Pro II evo rear with Shimano 12 speed cassette (not microspline) running a Sunrace 12spd cassette.ย  Hope instructions only mention 11 speed in their instructions for Shimano HG hubs and this uses no 2mm spacer.

When the aluminium end cap (Hope call it a spacer too) is fitted, the shoulder of it fouls the cassette lockring. Stopping the cassette tool from tightening down. Weird as adding a 2mm spacer (as per their instructions for microspline or hope hubs) would make the problem worse.

The fact that it's Sunrace lockring isn't making any difference either as same tool interface/diameter?

?

I may have found the solution - Hope instructions have the tinniest asterix known to man, linking to instruction to use the original driveside endcap (spacer) for shimano microspline, not the new one, so I will try that approach to see if it works.

You may well have it. I encountered the same thing taking a Pro2 microspline from 135 to boost. Much buggering about with adaptors in the shop before we narrowed in on the solution. The instructions are not as clear as one might wish.

There are 2 different versions of HG freehub (in both aluminium and steel).

Older ones have no spacer & are not compatible with 12 speed road cassette (MTB is fine). I recently picked up a new-old stock steel one like this.

Newer ones have a spacer for all MTB cassettes, you remove the spacer for 12 speed road cassettes ( I think they must be wider).

Can't you take the spacer off, tighten the cassette, then put the spacer back on?
