Cardboard can get wet and floppy, though I don't think it'll rain.

Best buy a nice sheet of insoluble carbon fibre [;)]

Actually It's just occurred to me that I could get one of my temps to run along side me giving me directions, these Eastern Europeans are good at running.

You get a map on the day and the direction too.

Righty-ho - feel better about navigating now.

Now to fashion a map holder ๐Ÿ™‚

You don't really need the map unless you get really lost - the written directions are most useful in my experience though it's worth having a speedo set to kilometres so you know how far you've gone from the last checkpoint to help you navigate.

I'll be 'Uncle Johning' it, and on current form will suffer like a dog!

- best map holder I saw was last year, a guy had ziptied a windscreen scraper to his stem - one of these (up the other way)

Il be on a singular griffin drop bar 29er niche same as the on in stu's pic.

As fivebar said earlier trails are fantastic at the moment and we had trouble with dust last night! If the weather doesn't break between now and sun small block 8's would be my choice if I had some in 29! If it rains a bit then that's ok as it'll dampen the dust down!

Shout abuse as you ride by and watch out you don't get sailored ๐Ÿ˜‰

What is being sailored? Is it a bit like being teabagged?

I am sticking with clubber as he has a GPS. Will be riding my Merida carbon with Barro race tyres and all my gears if I can convert it in time. Skiving Friday might be necessary.

Entered under LVIS as clubber will be holding my hand all the way round.

I won't be using GPS.
I won't need to look at the map.
I won't even bother to read the instruction sheet.
I won't be blindly following the rider in front (even if she does have a nice arse) ๐Ÿ˜†

wearing my Huddersfield Star Wheeler jersey
riding my Spez Epic, thought about the cross bike but it looks far to dry and I'm to unfit.
with Conti speed kind supers
and as I've found my GPS I'll be occasionally checking it as I haven't lived in the Cotswolds for 10 years.

What literally? Is there something you want to tell us Hwe?

I'll be riding a black Genesis Vapour with 35mm Speed Kings. Or if I'm feeling weak minded a Commencal Meta 5 with the slickest tyres I can find in the garage.
No team kit to identify me (pull your finger out Gary ) but I'll be the one wheezing and coughing and making lots of excuses.

As long as Hwe doesn't bring that sort of behaviour to the Cheesy Riders; he's quite promiscuous with his bike clubs you know.

Yeah, Hwe will [s]sleep[/s] ride with anyone these days... ๐Ÿ˜›

That said, there's been quite a bit of mingling of clubs lately - the cheesy riders and the bristol mountain bike club went trail building together! It's all getting a bit warm and fuzzy - like it! ๐Ÿ˜€

and after last night's ride/desperate effort to do some last minute training, I'm thinking that I haven't been out on the bike enough recently to be using my racing saddle (spesh toupe) for HONC... I think I may swap it for the one on my mtb which has more (some!) padding...

I'll be riding the Anthem that creaks from all sorts of places so I don't expect much company on the way around (it's annoying enough riding the thing :p )

is "singlecrossers" slang for cross dressing lonely hearts? ๐Ÿ˜‰
Graham, is it right that the gps file is quite rough and doesn't really follow the trails/roads and really just matches up at the waypoints?
