M&S want more money again this year. So, who else gives that sort of cover for a number of four figure bikes?

Cheers.

Have you tried going online and doing it as a new policy rather than through the renewal. it's usually cheaper that way.

ING quoted for my bikes when M&S wouldn't, and gave us a decent price.

M&S don't quote for bikes as it's included.

sorry, what i meant was "M&S refused even to quote for insurance that included my more expensive bike so i didn't bother trying to persuade them".

Halifax Insurance - 0845 602 7377.
2 bikes £5500 & £3000 - premium equals about £150 of overall well priced premium - all cover, theft, damage - away from home/worldwide.

Had 1 claim for going under height restrictor with bike on top (don't ask....) dealt with v. well cheque to LBS.

Also my employer, but means I am confident the service is strong.

yep, I'm with Halifax too and have my bike fully covered as a specified item. Think it'a about £70 on top of buildings and contents.

Halifax here too - extra premium for bikes seemed pretty reasonable.

Had to claim last year (though not for bikes as we had those with us) and the service was excellent.

Prudential do mine - happy to insure bikes >4K. I think 2 cost us about £150 for the year. Had a claim too a couple of years ago for some accidental damage and they handled it no problem. Was through Wheelies Direct, who seemed alright.

Interestingly we just had our renewal through from M&S, as part of the migration of all their policies to AXA. I did a new quote on-line with M&S and it was more expensive than the renewal (by about £50)! A quote direct with AXA (including coverage for bikes) came out about £50 cheaper than our renewal quote...

Speaking of M&S,(though underwritten by Aviva and seen to by Ival), how long is a reasonable amount of time to wait for a claim to be sorted? Currently at 8 weeks for a stolen merlin malt4. And it's only just being valued! Never return phone calls or update me.

I found ING a lot cheaper than my M&S renewal quote - at the time seemed to offer more as well as being good for bikes.

yeah ING seemed good. could people giving rough ideas of the prices they've got please also include at least a general area as some of those are less than what i'm paying, but then i do live in the mean streets of north london!

Good thread, looking for alternative insurance myself as Barclays have a limit of £1.5k per bike - and recent price rises mean that's not nearly enough for new-for-old replacements.

Does anyone exceed the included £4000 maximium for bikes (or un-specified collections as the policy states) on M&S?

With recent price rises my two bikes come in at nearer £5000 now so I was wondering how much that would increase my premium by?

yeah, one of my bikes is over the £4,000 limit, hence they wouldn't even quote if the cover included it.
