Quite pleased with this. an afternoon with a hacksaw, a drill, and a file.
It needs the wire ties replacing with some nicer "keyrings", and a going over with some sandpaper to take any rough edges off:

Good work. What's it made of - aluminium or steel?

1.5mm alu i had lying around. Not sure if it should be taller to let the flame rise "straighter" before being forced around the kettle
