Dear All,
Following a thread on here about b/b, chain line and preventing chainsuck, I've taken a look at my bottom bracket after fitting a new chain. It's a 73mm frame shell and I've been told it should have a 2.5mm spacer installed on the drive side, twixt frame and b/b cup.

Am I right in assuming I can actually see this spacer?
i.e. it doesn't fit inside the cup, hidden away internally?
....so I should be able to see frame edge-spacer-b/b cup.

I don't think my lbs has fitted one when setting up the bike, and having been slightly prone to chain suck, I'm thinking of going back and getting it sorted. That and a new chain should help - anything to get away from the dreaded suck!
thanks all.

yes, should be an obvious seperate ring between the BB and the frame.

You see those black things in the middle. Those are spacers and they can be seen even with the cranks installed.

Just popped out to double-double check, armed with torch and glasses!!!
Yes I see it!!! Hurrah!
I suppose I was looking for a silver ali type ring, whereas it's actually a black ring as above. When you've a black frame it isn't immediatly obvious. I thought the end of the b/b shell was ring reinforced, then realised it was only on one side - duhhhh
OK sorted. Got one, sorry lbs for doubting you!
thanks to all
