looking to go from octalink to hollowtech 2. looking the new shimano deore 2010 version for £50

its a good deal. bought one for me and one for a friend. good deal, pretty good quality, relatively heavy - i'm waiting for my new middleburn HT2 to arrive...

Without rings, the RRP is £180. I got mine from 18 Bikes and Simon did a discount. The axel is bonded and bolted to the non drive arm. The quality is really nice.

This shows the little tension collar on the non drive side to get the pre-load spot on.

So with those middleburns, is the drive side crank an interference fit a la raceface rather than pinch bolts like HT2?

Kttc, It's a splined interface with a very slight taper. You undo the crank bolt in the same way as a self extracting bolt, which is esentially what it is. Very snug fit and the the machining is really nice.

A pain in the ass to set up with a chainguide then... Shame, they look nice.

Be interesting to do some stiffness testing on them, they're pretty skinny and they aren't hollow. Anyone got a set I can bend? 🙂

Not really. I replaced the old XT cranks with these, set the pre-load with the little collar (v. similar to xtr) and the chainline is exactly as before. I'm single chainring with a Rohloff guide and it works perfectly.
