May be staying here for a few nights soon, is there any riding to be had from the door in the area without having to drive? Had a look on Google but can't find much info.

High Cup Nick is a classic. You'll be needing your spd wellies though.

You're fairly close to the top end of the Pennine Bridleway - a few miles on road to Thrang, then up onto Mallerstang Common and Lady Anne's Highway south.

High Cup Nick from Dufton out and back might be a good bet from there. There a a few locals on here who know the bit north of the A66 better than me.

You could make a loop from Kirkby Stephen onto Nine Standards Rigg, but might be getting a tad damp by now.

Having thought about it some more, you're only a few miles from Ravenstonedale, where you can pick up the Bowderdale 'Classic' loop down to Sedbergh and back up via the Calf.

I think there might well be some nice BWs at Great Asby on the way down and back too.

IF you do go up High Cup Nick be wary of ramblers rambling at you. Some get irate and throw things (e.g. their wife) at you.

Wasn't KITT a LHD car? Why'd you want to eject yourself? Did he ever use that button?
