[#444522]

Very early days yet, but we are plotting the next two events. One will be exactly the same format as The Winter Sprinter but with twice as many riders.

The other will be 8 hours for solo, pairs and teams on 5 mile track so everybody gets to do lots of laps. Beer tent, DJ, camping etc. (this may be changed a bit)

Both events open to MTB and CX.

Any money raised will be given away (the last one raised £140 for BTCV, the big one made about £6k).

These will be in 2010 but we’ll have to start the paperwork soon.

All this is subject to us :

1) Being arsed.
2) Not falling out.
3) Getting permission to do it from the land owners and our wives.

More details on our website when we know what we’re doing. http://www.hitthenorth.net and there will be a lot less forum bombing from us on here 😉

In the mean time have a look at what is going on up at Lee Quarry.

Nothing. We're just trying something else.

yeah the first one was great, might be interested in the 8 hour one, I can see shorter laps working in a more frantic way, but I reckon you might just find people going out for 2 laps at a time to save the time lost in transition

It's up to them. Those that want to win it may do that. Those that are there to have a laugh may not. Shorter laps mean that you won't be hanging about for hours waiting your turn whilst your team mates are pushing through the mud 😉

I want to see solo CXers having a go for 8 hours.

Are there any team based CX enduro races? Forgive me if there are loads, I've not checked.

Nick, did you do the Winter Sprinter?

Do the next winter one. It was manic.

One CXer said in his blog that it was the hardest race he had ever done... which was nice.

it also means we can design a course that isn't 100% rideable.
A bit like the 3 Peaks but with mountain bikes and er...no peaks.

And streams.
I'm thinking that maybe you'd like a fire pit.

downy steps are rideable pook!
yay for the HtN team, ill be at both again!

short lap racing sounds good, more oppertunity for tactical jiggery (not under any illusions that we'll place well)

As soon as you know the dates (or around when) for the events let us know so we can deconflict

Also contact us about equipment etc we will be happy to free loan out anything of use, its better than being stuck in a shed. We will also see if any of the people who helped us will help you.

We will also sort links out etc

Good luck

www.brownbacksracing.co.uk

a last thought is that we probably need to get another NW organisers meeting before Christmas so we can get the people wo are actually putting events on to have a chance to air any issues.....

Will do.

The winter one won't clash with anything and it should be after the end of the CX season (like this year).

Summer one will have to fit in with MM 24/12 SITS etc.

We've got tons of gear already (or rather VLA Events have) but pooling information will be useful. We learned the hard way (in the back of a Police car!) at HtN1 about the chain of command/information at GMP. Telling the Police wasn't enough, we had to tell the right policeman, but they don't tell you who he was etc... Have you informed the Fuzz? Because if mountain rescue turn out there is a good chance that they will too.

An approved supplier/resources list would be good. I thought that this was something that BC were going to do but I haven't heard anything.

I agree a "where did you get that from and for how much" exchange will be good, anything drive costs down

All our kit is owned by us although we have had assistance getting it

You can do it on a Grifter if you like. Two wheels, One rider are the only stipulations.

Are you doing the Duathlon again? That way I don't have to do more than one lap 😉

Maybe. That's one for Rammyrunner/VLA Events to answer.

I did look on the VLA events but it just shows the details for last year. Maybe it wasn't popular enough...
