Afternoon all, after finding out about Hicks Lodge via a post on here, Mrs FBJ and I took our 5 year old daughter there on Sunday. After a walk around the Superworm activity trail and a picnic, we took the wee one for a spin round the blue trail on her bike, thinking, we'll try one of the short sections that we can bail off if it's a bit too much for her. Thankfully, she managed the whole loop, loved it, gave us a running commentary all the way round and now wants to try some more "proper mountain biking trails" like this.
We're going to take her to Clayton Vale one afternoon as it's pretty local to us but wondered if anyone knew of any other pretty flat well groomed trails we could try?
I was at Hicks on Sunday with my eldest, so you might have seen us flying about the place (Dark Green Chromag 29er and BRIGHT green Islabikes).
If you're around that area, you might want to try Sherwood Pines (Blue trail and maybe a few of the Red Sections). Further afield there is the Minortaur at Coed y Brenin and the Rookie Trail at Afan.
Blue at Sherwood is probably the next nearest - we live halfway travel wise between Pines and Hicks Lodge. My two are 12 and 8 and are fairly lazy. They prefer Hicks Lodge as they reckon the berms and twists are more fun.
Actually, it's probably a year since we ventured to Pines, might take them next week before we head up to Scotland for the week.
