Hello,

Has anyone ridden at Hick's Lodge? Is it any good? Worth an hour's drive to get to? (From Lincolnshire, I would guess not worth the drive down from the Peaks!) Better or worse than nearby Sherwood/Cannock etc?
Please discuss.
Thanks.

It's about a 7 mile ride from my house and I only went once.
It is aimed at family riders, most of the trail feels like it has been designed back to front with open entry to corners which tighten up, there is about 100m of climbing and descending at best.
Go to Sherwood pines if you are in Lincs or go the extra distance to Cannock or Wales/Peaks.

As above it was great when we went as a family. The trails are very smooth you could get around in a wheelchair. You would be much better off heading over to The Chase.

Hmmm. First round of the Midlands XC is there. Do they know a lot of good 'off-piste' stuff or are they geting the useless course out the way first? Note, they have Birchall and Hanchurch again, both of which are ace!
Was just wondering about heading over for a practice, maybe use the petrol for Dalby/Peaks instead.

Won't knock it at all but wouldn't drive there. I can throw a stone at it from my place. It is for families really. Good craic at night and we use the cafe ( v good) on the way back from a ride and may do a quick lap to finish off. If it gets folks into the area on bikes it's good by me!!!

It would probably be ok for an XC race its not technical but thanks to the surface it will be very fast.

I keep meaning to head down there before work one day its only about a 10 min ride from work.

When I was there I was speaking to one of the senior staff members there and they have been thinking about getting some sort of skills area put in, like a pump track and some small jumps and drops. I think it will really complement what they already have there.

Definately not worth the drive. We've only been once and we live within easy cycling distance. We think it is poorly designed, but it seems good for families.

Went for a quick ride around there this morning as part of my local loop, not sure I'd travel a big distance to ride there (unless it was a family ride) but for people in the area it's a nice addition. Do agree that a lot of the blue route lacks flow but I'm not going to complain at more all weather trails on my doorstep ๐Ÿ™‚
