[Closed] Help with switching to 1x10 on Pitch Pro
Hey all..
I have a 2007(I think) Pitch Pro, that I'd like to switch over to a 1x10 with a Hope T-Rex or similar...
it's currently got the original drivetrain as here:
http://www.specialized.com/us/en/bikes/archive/2008/pitch/pitchpro#specs
I am thinking about the following spec, but am unsure of compatibility:
XT M780 10spd shifter
XT M786 Shadow+ 10spd mech
XT771 cassette
HopeT-Rex 40t
Hope Retainer NW 32t
XT 10spd chain
Would all that bolt straight up ok?
Is that cassette a straight-swap onto the existing freewheel?
Is that mech (medium cage!?) ok with the 40T sprocket?
Anything I've missed?
(obviously new cable, but aside from that)
Thanks for your help!
(and Merry Christmas! 🙂 )
anybody done a similar swap/setup on a different bike?
Been doing the same. A medium cage rear mech is ok up to a 42t sprocket. Think they recommend adding 4 links to the chain. I'm trying to decide whether to go 40t or 42t.
Should work fine.
I run:
T-Rex with 11-36 XT Cassette (and a 16t from a 9spd XT cassette) on Pro2 hub
M770 Shifter
Zee FR mech
Superstar 32t I/O
SRAM1031 chain with 9spd link
All works fine on a 2009 FSRxc. Used to drop chain on a non-Shadow+ mech when either the chain wore too much or the Works N/W 32t wore.
Don't forget to order up some short chainring bolts, or get ready with a file and a couple of 10spd chain connectors just in case you have issues whilst out
Other than that, your sorted
great. thanks for the info everyone
Will get credit-card-bashing!
It's all CRC's fault, those damn new-years offer codes 😛
just did a quick check for "short chainring bolts"... and they aren't listed as such on CRC. "Outer" ones look short... but I think I should still have some of those from when I took the big ring of (to fit a bash-ring)....
Sounds fine. The chainring bolts you need are for single ring - so check for that in the description.
Yep, they're called single ring bolts on CRC.
I have a 2008 pitch, did the 1x10 swap just before Xmas. XT cassette 11-34, medium cage SLX mech & b spec shifter and new SLX brakes. I went with the one up components 42 range expander cog because it came with a 16t cog as well, the 32 narrow wide ring came with spacers so I could use standard bolts and there was 20% off on their website so I used that for a RAD cage. It works a treat! Only issue is the B spec lever/ shifter combo. After a tree smash at Llandegla my lever broke, and I lost the small bolt which connects the shifter to the lever. The shifter is now useless (after 3 rides!). So I'm now going down the separate lever shifter route so I can't happen again.
You used a 11-34 cassette? I'm surprised that would work with a 42t that's an 8t shift.
It might be a 36(?), it's the RAD cage that makes the difference TBH. No problems in shifting, the bolt spacers that came with the 32 ring sorted the chain line out as well. One Up components get my vote, the whole lot was about £80, pretty much the same as a hope ring and t-Rex . But you get the 16t cog, RAD cage and chain ring bolt spacers for the same price.
that sounds pretty good! thanks for the info.
off to google it all now 🙂
anybody know a UK seller for OneUp stuff?
Check ebay I managed to get a 42t ring recently for £30.
If it was my money.
Then I would go for the saint shifter it is very highly regarded.
I would get a Zee mech and fit a RAD R cage.
XT 11-36 cassette
Also you can buy from the One Up site they distribute from the UK if you select the right option so no shipping/custom issues.
Oneup stuff is stocked in the UK even though you pay through their American site, ordered mine Monday evening and it arrived the following Saturday (with Christmas and Boxing day in between).
cool.
gonna get this lot ordered as a late christmas present to myself I think! 🙂
thanks for the help all...
If you do go for a 40t ring, order a 11-34 cassette. Oneup recommend that combo.
I just fitted a similar setup on my Mojo. Superstar IO 32t ring, 11-36 cassette with Oneup 42T expander and 16t cog, and a 786 med cage mech and RAD cage. It fitted easily and shifts very nicely.
Oneup site has links to some very clear and useful videos.
that setup (on your Mojo) sounds perfect.
thanks 🙂
I haven't had a pitch for a few years but I can say I wouldn't bother with the t rex. 10speed stuff fits just fine.
